I gotta get a good safe or three, first. :-) I only want about 40 more guns, but if anyone burglarized me while I wasn't at home, they could get away with a small fortune (to me) in guns right now.

Been thinking about a Liberty Safe. They claim they're number 1. Can anyone advise me whether these safes are good, bad or indifferent? Thanks.

Liberty is a very good safe. I just bought a Centry safe. I have a handfull of long guns and whole bunch of handguns, which are my passion. Some were special order. I live in CA and we have a one gun per month law, so even if I was robbed and the insurance company paid off, it would take a very long time to replace my handguns. My Centry safe is lagged to the floor (concrete) and the wall. It's fireproof and weighs 400-500 lbs empty. I feel secure.

Hey LibWacker,
When I leave the house for any extended time I put ALL my hand guns (except one carry piece) in a safe deposit box at the Bank! Nothing could be safer and cheap too. Obviously I have the largest box they have for $100 clams a year.

Thanks. I've got to do something about it soon. I'm also in CA and am totally paranoid whenever kids are in the house or whenever I'm away.

That's a great idea! And 100 clams isn't too bad, either. I'll check it out. My wife and I need a larger safety deposit box anyway.

LibWhaker,
FYI.. I do not use the cases for storage in the bank box. I put each gun in one of those Crown Royal suede bags. Keeps them from getting dinged or scratched and saves room.
Good excuse to buy more Crown Royal!

I'm holding out for the gunshow this weekend. I'm taking my sons. It'll be fun.

Hey, at least I went looking, only to find that Browning isn't making the Hi-Power anymore. FN is still producing, but try to find one! Any FReepers have experience with the FEG Hi-Power clone?

PS: Don't have to recommend a 1911, I've already got one, just looking for something different.

Excellent idea! I've been throwing them out for years, unfortunately. They also make good jewelry bags. Try Crown Royal Reseve, it is not only smooth as silk the bag is much nicer, a deep royal blue with yellow gold tassles.

You can have a key deadbolt lock installed on a closet door for kid proofing immediatly . Then take your time about deciding on the gun safe. My husband did that because his gun safe runneth over.
