12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

keep yer eye on this one, moderator. I sniff a DU troll.

Yep. First thing you see on the AOL front page is this story. Amazing how none of the Clinton lawsuits got this much coverage.

You are the second person on this site to say "DU" whatever that is!?

Hmmm, I just did a FR search for "Judicial Watch Clinton" in hopes of finding a post from Reuters or AP or anything (other than NewsMax) that discussed a JW case against Clinton.
Guess what? I didn't find a single post that was from a "mainstream" news organization. Seems like they pretty much IGNORED Judicial Watch when it dealt with Klinton, but now look at the press JW is getting. Biased indeed.

"To look the other way for the vice president would be to set a precedent that the Washington elite are above the law," said Klayman, arguing his case that Cheney and Halliburton were in the wrong.Where to begin with this line (from the CBS report).

"Has Klayman ever won in a real court? " I don't even think that Klayman has even won on a tennis court.

Clearly, cost over-runs on construction projects cannot be realized until approved by the client. Perhaps there is some contract language allowing this, but without a clients pre-approval, it seems at least risky and likely fraudulent. The JW suit claims just that. I just read the JW briefs on the other thread and am reserving judgement until I get some legal and GAAP opinions from those in the know.

When I was scanning the wires, I noticed something interesting. When Judicial Watch went after the Clinton, they were called a "right-wing group". Now that JW is going after Cheney, they are now listed as a "public interest group". Sometimes, the media can't help but show its bias. Exactly - caught my ear on the CBS Radio News today.

I like super-sillyous. I missed the joke the first time and was thinking you misspelled supercilious.

I just skimmed the JW complaint. Larry's gonna get his peepee slapped off. I have to agree with you, counselor.
To: Phantom Lord
Right. Larry hasn't won one in a while.
