Kind of a long story but, the dog, who does not bark because it was raised around dogs who couldn't bark? (why does this sound ludicrous?) got upset the night in question and tore it's dog bed up. Possibly being a fiber source a few of us wondered what it looked like.

I've been mildly obsessed with the Danielle van Dam case lately. I've been reading the forums at the San Diego Times Union Web site and also at Web Sleuth. They're very interesting. The diversity of opinions is amazing. Before I write anymore, I want to make it clear that I do not think either of the van Dam's killed their child. With that said, I do believe they're not being totally honest about what happened the night Danielle disappeared as well as their previous relationship with David Westerfield, the man accused of kidnapping and killing Danielle. I started to write "what bothers me most ..." but there's not just one thing. All of the van Dam's actions from the very beginning have seemed strange to me. I realize people act differently in these situations, but look at Chandra Levy's mother. She's a mess, and rightfully so. Brenda van Dam hired a hairdresser to come to her house the first day she went on television pleading for the return of her child. That just doesn't seem right to me. The van Dam's also hired a public relations firm. Why? I suppose that does answer one question though. I've been wondering why this girl's kidnapping got so much attention but the thousands of other kidnappings every day go unreported in the national media.

I have always believed than any decent alarm system would tell you exactly which sensor was tripped, so this looking for the open door stuff made no sense. A really good one would probably save the time and date of the past 100 events. Feldman, please surprise us!

Take a Tylenol and go to bed. ;-) Minus the Tylenol, that is about exactly what I will be doing , most ricky-tick.

It was "raised" around these debarked dogs for 8 weeks....Keith and Rich both complained that Layla was a pain in the butt..jump all over you kind of dog...that the VD's kept in a cage sometimes.
The neighbor who testified to going to the VD's a day or so after the disappearance, said "Layla" just meekly walked around the house..let her pet her head, didn't jump up on her.

Maybe Layla tore the bed up for that reason...
Or the more simple answer....
Her TOENAILS tore the bed....
Couldn't get any TRACTION......
SILENCE!!!!
FDA/LOL/so

Possibly being a fiber source a few of us wondered what it looked like. Unfortunately the dog bed, the vacuum cleaner bag, and a few other items (like maybe Danielle's body) were discarded before police arrived.

My guess is that there was nothing he could say that would be beneficial to the prosecution. Pretty much sums up ALL of the witnesses for the prosecution, don't'cha think? ;)

Their alarm would tell you too, according to the question Dusek asked BVD, she agreed but she went right on telling how she searched for it.
Hopefully, DVD's little magnet trip didn't mess up the sensor/alarm recording data.

Did anyone ever id the DEAD DOG CARCASS that was out on Dehesa Rd. that supposedly drew the searchers to Danielle's body, due to the smell ?
To: UCANSEE2
Maybe there is a LAYLA I (deceased) and a LAYLA II, now living at the VD's.
To: FresnoDA
subtle , real subtle.
To: UCANSEE2
The one covered in hair...don't believe we heard testimony to that.
Wonder why the odor of Danielle was strong according to the searchers, Karsten and Chris, yet Detective Collins stated there was none..(immune to death smells perhaps??)

#108. LOL almost PIMP!

Why would they check for dog hairs on her bedding? There is no evidentiary purpose to it. The dog and she lived in the same house. They looked for evidence coming from humans. They must collect a ton of fibers and will testify to the pertinent.

"Strange huh?...can't imagine the defense TRYING to place painted bumpers in DW's house so it matches the blue paint under her fingernails. Can't figure out what it means."
It might well mean something, Rheo. As JJ pointed out to me many threads back, auto paint is nearly impossible to scratch to the point that one could accumulate identifiable traces under their nails.
Of course that would apply to fully cured paint. If Neil had a freshly painted car, it could be another story. Of course LE had their man and very likely didn't check into it.
Maybe nothing at all to this angle, but that blue paint under her nails had to come from somewhere. Would put my mind at ease with it, if I knew LE had at least checked it out.
To: UCANSEE2
Really? What is your evidence that Damon vacuumed?
To: UCANSEE2
Probably had fibers on it from DW's MH too.
After all, there is so much Layla hair in the MH that we know he killed the dog too.

Touchup spray can paint is very soft, especially when new.
