We're expecting to see the typhoon shown at Chuuk (Truk) tommorrow morning here in Japan. After Chuuk, it hit Guam pretty hard, then briefly reached super typhoon strength with sustained winds of 130 kts and gusts of 160 kts.

It has since weakened, but it's still a good sized storm.

Awesome photos! Horsehead is the best. SAT image over Mass. explains why it has been so weird here lately. Sunday was yellow-gray all day and I can't imagine what it must be like to be closer (not going looking, either).

The shuttle and the jet remind me of a terrier trying to impregnate a German Shepherd.

Bear with me - it's been a while.

Not meaning to nit-pick, but the Horsehead Nebula is not "in a galaxy far, far away". However, since it's ~1500 light years away, one could argue that it's "A long time ago...".

Hehe...I wondered if anyone else would catch that. 1500 LY is relatively close, wonder where it is now?

I'm not sure, but I think that its proper motion isn't all that different than ours. Thus it's still probably about where we see it now, i.e. where it was 1500 years ago.
