I recall attending my wife's naturalization ceremony and can relate to your statement about 'good' immigrants. With all our immigration woes its easy to forget there are good people out there we should be happy to have as our countrymen.

One thing that has always struck me when watching the Olympics is looking at athletes when they are not in uniform. This one could be Korean. That one could be Spanish. Another one could be Nigerian.
Or, they could ALL be American! And they CAN be American, if they are willing to commit themselves as your wife has. Congratulations.
