Pastor caught on porn site defended
The Washington Times ^ | July 5 and 8, 2002 | George Archibald

The pastor of a Dallas Catholic church harshly criticized orthodox parishioners over the weekend for "hate and vengeance" in prompting the removal of his homosexual assistant pastor, who told a pornographic Internet clergy chat room that he lusted for Hispanic men and youth. Msgr. Lawrence Pichard of St. Pius X Catholic Church in east Dallas chastised members of the parish for "hatred" in refusing to forgive the Rev. Clifford Garner, 36, after he professed sexual desires for Hispanic men, including a church youth pastor who was his roommate at a national Catholic youth retreat. "He's no Ricky Martin

The latest on the epic of the Rev Garner. Bishop Galante says he won't serve at another parish however he is still a member of the clergy. Meanwhile at his valedictory tothe good folks at St Pius X he pretty much gives the laity the finger. As one less than happy memner says "We were told it was none of our business," another woman said. "We think the problem is bigger than this one church. It is [active] homosexuality in the priesthood. Celibacy requires a state of mind that is celibate and is not divided against itself."

The response by the clergy to such commentary from the lay persons is to denounce vehement disapproval of clerical queerness as a manifestation of "hate and vengeance". Does this seem familiar. Strong opposition to proselytizing gay cabelleros is increasing described as hate speech by various religious and secular illuminati. The peasants are being told to mind their place by their cultural (self appointed) betters.

CATHOLICS: If you don't shut these people up I predict a heavy exit of decent, God-fearing folks in your Church. You will be left, like a lot of Protestant denominations, with only the secular humanists to carry on.

"You are on your way to destruction."

If the Catholics don't get a Pope who can see 'straight', the Church will be just history in a decade or so!

Father Garner told St. Sebastian's Angels, a 60-member homosexual clergy chat room which features nude erotic pictures of priest members.

I had to read this sentence twice because I could not beleive it. These un-frocked priests should be de-frocked.

Thank you Jeanne Dixon. Were it not for CATHOLICS, Garner would be continuing his masquerade and Galante and Pichard would not have been forced to address it. How do you think Archibald got the information about all this since he's a Protestant working in Washington, DC? CATHOLICS gave it to him. People who abandon the Bride of Christ because of the shortcomings of mortal men didn't really possess the faith to begin with. Christ assured us the gates of hell would not prevail and as we all know He wasn't wrong.

Well, I admit since I consider you and the Protestants to be "dead letters" for the last 1,800 years, the caveat about "The Bride of Christ" rings hollow for me.

I'm speaking of your church strictly as an institution that seeks to promote good and defeat evil.

If you embrace evil, as it seems so many of your clergy boldly do nowadays, with no fear of recrimination apparently, then good people are going to leave.

My wife left some years ago, and never looked back. "The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Can you give me the exact number of the clergy in the Roman Catholic Church who embrace evil? I'll give you a little hint, as a percentage, more Apostles embraced evil and turned their backs against Christ than priests do today.

My wife left some years ago, and never looked back. "The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

So I take it she renounced her U.S. citizenship because of Clinton and his enablers in the house and senate. Her actions confirm my earlier statement.

Turning it into an attack on the messenger gets you nowhere. This article, for example, doesn't come from the Leftie press but from the Washington Times, who consistently champion the cause of moral right.

You have a problem. You want to pretend it's minimal, and blown out of proportion, fine.

But my wife left your Church for mine ten years ago, chiefly because of what she saw in the priesthood. She'd been hit on more than once by randy Priests, and the fact that several in her diocese (Tulsa, Oklahoma) were gay was an open secret.

This stuff has been going on for awhile, and rather than being blown out of proportion I feel strongly it's only the tip of the iceberg.

But suit yourself. It ain't happening. When you and ten others are sitting at mass in a chapel that should hold 500, please don't be surprised.

If you think asking some simple questions constitutes an attack then you're more of a drama queen than you lead people to believe. I'm well aware of where George Archibald has his articles published, if you check out the threads on his earlier articles you'd see that. In fact I emailed him Prichards' remarks from this weekends bulletin and I spoke with him on the phone about Bishop Adamec of the Altoona-Johnstown diocese last week, so save me the condescension.

You have a problem. You want to pretend it's minimal, and blown out of proportion, fine.

Do you make it a habit of misstating facts in all aspects of your life or is it limited to issues regarding the Roman Catholic Church?

But my wife left your Church for mine ten years ago, chiefly because of what she saw in the priesthood. She'd been hit on more than once by randy Priests, and the fact that several in her diocese (Tulsa, Oklahoma) were gay was an open secret.

Too bad your wife abandoned the Bride of Christ over the actions of some priests. She obviously never learned the lessons taught by St. Augustine, St. Francis or Jesus Christ Himself. The truth is absolute. She also knows that she'll have to answer for that decision during her particular judgment. Again I ask the simple question did she renounce her citizenship because of Clinton and his enablers or not?

I wonder if father Larry knowingly was ordained as a priest in the "Culture of Death",or,did he forget to pray and fell into it,more or less unwittingly?

It is almost incomprehensible that a priest in the Church Christ established, could commit to paper a perfect example of calling evil, good and good, evil. He needs prayers.

"What's wrong with this picture?"

Personally, I have to wonder about the pastor. Was the other priest, who was removed, his lover?

While I would not expect most of these parishioners to leave the Catholic church over being scolded, there is nothing preventing them from going to Sunday services in a neighboring parish for the next several years, or whatever time it takes for this monsignior to be removed. Seeing empty pews might remind the Monsignior that he is preaching in 21st century America, not 10th century Dark Ages Europe.

By the way, leaving the United States over Clinton is not comparable to leaving the Catholic church over its corruption. In this country, the people can make a difference every four years, and even if they are stupid enough to elect an evil leader twice, our Constitution protects us from that person serving more than two terms. The Catholic church, on the other hand, is still run as a monarchy, with the people having no say about its leadership or their policies. Like any other religion that has joined with the state at one time in its history, it has established institutional practices that have turned it into a control mechanism to be used by those in power, to keep the "little people" in line. All this "Bride of Christ" claptrap is the leftover imagery from a day when Big Brother was not a computer keeping watch on everything you did and said, but a vengeful image of a deity who was able to invade your every thought and dream, and extend the power of the state over people's minds, as well as their actions.

I don't hold a lot of hope for Catholics over the age of fifty for learning how to think for themselves (the church got a death grip on too many of our minds in parochial schools, and if you haven't thrown them off by now, you probably never will), but the next generation is starting to question this last vestige of the Middle Ages. Surely the monsignior's behavior in this will accelerate them on their journey to figuring out their spiritual lives for themselves.

I'm originally from her Diocese and my parents still are quite active there. I'll ping my Mom and see what she has to say about an all-too-human scandal so great it caused your wife to renounce her faith.

Your opinion, which I did not request. In the future if I want to know what claptrap is rattling around inside your grape, I'll ask for it. Any questions?

Just one, who said I had to get anyone's permission before responding in an intelligent fashion (without comparing anyone's mind to a small piece of fruit) to a point raised here?

Hey, you asked if I had any questions.
