Sorry, that answer is incorrect. Shortly after 9-11, a teen girl in New Joisey (???) was charged with making terrorist threats for sending hate emails and death threats to other kids at school she didn't like. If memory serves correctly, she was not affiliated with any terrorist organizations, yet they had no problem with charging a 13 year old girl as a terrorist.
Lets compare the two:
Teen girl, American citizen, no known affiliation with any terrorist organizations, sends anonymous hate email to her perceived "enemies" at school --->
Middle Eastern man, not American citizen (???), possible affiliations with known terrorist groups, targets a specific ethnic group long known for being victims of terrorist activity by terrorists groups he is known and/or suspected to be affiliated with, opens fire, killing two, wounding several others of his perceived "enemies" --->
Hmm, as they use to sing on Sesame Street, "One of these things, is not like the other, one of these things, is not quite the same."
You're right yet again. These "conspiracy behind every tree" believers make it hard to get to the root of the real conspiracies because of too much static noise. Conspiracies exist, but not everywhere.
Agreed. It is not the job of the FBI to declare that someone is a terrorist on the public airways. It is their job to present the results of their investgations to the relevant authorities in the Justice Department. I don't want these guys defining anything.
LOL ... Thanks for sharing...broadcast moderately of course.
That's probably true but they have to know that Israeli intelligence will fully investigate this attack and find out the full story on Hadayet. No doubt we will hear it from Israeli goverment before we hear it from the FBI
I have been trying to figure this out right along. Even 9/11 would have not been explained as terrorism if there had only been one plane involved. No group to this day has come forward to claim responsibility for 9/11 so if it had only been one plane an accident would have been ruled and we would have went on as usual. Now we have high alerts but then when something happens the FBI is right there to deny terrorism before all of the facts have even been revealed.
Flight 587 and flight 800 along with a lot of other unexplained "accidents" are no doubt in my mind the acts of Muslim terroists.
Interesting point. The government (esp. at the time) likes for us to believe he was right wing nutcase acting alone, and he is a terrorist - but this radical Islamic nutcase walks into an airport armed to the teeth bent on killing as many Jews as possible (fortunatley he's taken down before many more people were killed) and this is an isolated incident. Let's review the Websters definition of terror:
4 : violence committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands
Is radical Islam not a group?
TERRORIST

NOT A TERRORIST
What a sad state of affairs...
Apparently you are not being played for a fool, you must be one. The FBI isnt covering anything up. Havent you seen wall to wall coverage on TV and in the papers about the attack at LAX? I would say they must be doing a poor job of covering it up.
There seems to be a lack of preciseness in language around here lately. When the government is talking about terrorism and terroists they are not talking about long wingnuts who might be copy cats but the real thing that is part of an organized effort to cause harm to our country. The lone screwballs that go postal are always going to be with us and there is nothing that the government can do to prevent them from doing harm if they are willing to die in the process.
The FBI is still investigating this case and they say it may turn out to be terrorism. Based upon whats made it into the Press, there are no known links to any terrorist group, the guy was NOT on a watch list, there are a lot of contradictory claims that need to be investigated before one can make a snap judgement like those here on FR feel so free to do.
What would the FBI lose by calling this terrorism? To me it would seem that they and the government would benefit by calling it terrorism. If in the nine months following 9/11 all the "terrorists" can manage to accomplish is to kill off two Israelis at an International terminal, that is likely to make the US public less fearful of the terrorists, not more. If attacking El-Al is the new M.O., then just avoid El-Al and Temples and you can breath easily.
I think it was a mistake for the FBI to attempt to characterize him as a lone nut, because this is going to make many (non-Arab/Muslim) Americans see a potential terrorist/disgruntled muslim everywhere they look.
I believe there are many of these types out there.
No they are educated in an environment of hate. Then they are recruited by a terrorist organization, given training in what to do, and then sent off to do a particular job for the terrorist organization whether it be that Martyrs Bridgade that Arafat controls, Islamic Jihad, Hizbullah, or some other group. Occasionally a nut case might do his own solo thing but then he would be more likely to use a gun or grenade or other weapon of convenience.
