What is the reason for the FBI to pretend this isn't a Terrorist attack when clearly it is, and they know it, and we know it!

The FBI's primary job these days seems to be to convince the sheeple that obvious terrorist attacks are not in fact terrorist attacks. I can't remember the last time they actually caught a criminal.

Also Saturday, authorities evacuated 700 people from an area near the scene of the shooting for about an hour because they found an unattended bag. A broken bottle of vodka was found inside a novelty package shaped like an instrument case that had the words "hunting rifle" printed on it, said Los Angeles Police Officer John Crispins

Yes this man does have a good deal of common sense and as long as you think it is insanity that motivates us to aspire to something bigger than we are ....

Never mind my friend . No harm done ;). Bump to a higher calling .

What information on hand? Tell us what they know.

That there was no apparent additional attacks made against other airports in the US. That this guy wasnt on some watch list like some of the 9/11 terrorists were and there was no readily apparent connection between the kook and any terrorist organization. Given what they knew at the time only a fool would have shut down evey airport in the country. That would have been exactly what the terrorist would want.

True but if its not part of a coordinated attack then there was no reason to close down the air transportation system for a day, a week or a year.

That is a silly assumption to make. There is MUCH more incentive for the Feds to label this a terrorist act linked to international groups than the other way around. The Feds are under constant criticism for their "vague" warnings and this is the prime example, should they choose" to say "we told you so".

china adds their spin!

McLaughlin suggested that authorities would rather treat the incident as one of hate crimes that have been on rise after the September 11 terrorist attacks last year and the continued violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Middle East.

I agree, it was an act causing terror as any act of violence would.

But it has not yet been shown that he was acting as a part of a plan coming from a terror group such as Al-Queda.

From another retired Engineer, you have been delivering the best explanation I have yet read as to why the FBI has not yet labeled this killer a Terrorist!

Anyway you can give a highly condensed summary of what you understand from the Patriot Act and other sources?

”I think many on this forum, including myself, would become very uncomfortable if the Feds started labeling every act as a terrorist act no matter what the circumstance.”

My sentiments exactly, considering that Constitutional protections don’t apply if a crime is labeled “terrorism”.

I myself believe that any act that is intended to cause terror is a terrorist act. Bureaucrats, however think differently.

I couldn't agree more. If you look at the act itself, the LAX shooter is a terrorist, plain and simple. This is how anyone without a political agenda would look at it.

Bring in the people who receive their paychecks from the government, federal, state and local, and you have people viewing this from the standpoint of a specific political agenda.

If it wasn't blatantly obvious before, the FBI is more concerned with furthering specific political agendas than it is with performing the law enforcement duties and responsibilities it is responsible for.

The FBI’s first responsibility is to carry out the wishes of the President. If Mr. Bush decides that the most important thing is to crack down on internet spam – that is where the focus would shift. Right now the focus is international terrorism – and keeping the public as calm as possible while maintaining alertness.

Lets hope we have no more, and the best way is to decide to call a terrorist a terrorist.
