So sorry to here this.....BUMP
To: demkicker
...but retire to do what? There must be more. He's too young.
To: demkicker
That is not what I heard. I heard he will announce tomorrow whether or not to retire. Big difference.

Retire?? How old is he????

I was listening to Rita Cosby as well. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HE IS GOING TO ANNOUNCE TOMORROW.
To: Miss Marple
Hope this is what you suggest, announcement NOT to retire. Where are all the Republicans going?

Pity. He'll probably be replaced with a politician.

That's sad on one level, but on another level the wish that a lot of us have is that our capital-R Representatives one day will realize that they represent in the little-r sense and are not needed for lifetime jobs. They are supposed to be folks who live in their district who think they have the mettle to go to Washington for their people and represent them in the republic for awhile, then go back to their jobs or whatever they want.
One day perhaps that's what they'll all do; not just when their districts get combined...

Not a bad guy, but no big loss. He was anything but "effective" as a so-called Republican leader. Big disappointment, Watts. Time for him......and others like him.........to hang it up and make room for others who actually want to change things.
To: demkicker
He's a good man and has a very bright future.

Good for him.
We may need J.C., but he sure as heck does not deserve us (the average American shmuck voter). I wish this fine young man, who rehabilitated his life, well (unless he becomes a lobbyist!)
To: Miss Marple
That's how I heard it too, that there would be an announcement weather he would retire or not, and that President Bush and other republicans have urged him to run again

What I heard on Fox News is that Watts will make an announcement tomorrow about his plans. The White House is pressuring him to stay.

Please ask the moderator to pull this thread. You did not hear Rita Cosby correctly, and the premise of this thread isn't accurte.

I have a feeling that he is going to retire...I'm not sure why. I wonder if he is still made about Rummy shutting down that tank made in Oklahoma? He really is waiting a long time for another Republican to get up and going before the elections, that really isn't very nice.
