Employee files charges with EEOC against Democratic Party
The Associated Press 6/28/02
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A black employee of the Alabama Democratic Party has filed charges with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claiming she was discriminated against at work because of her race.
In the written EEOC complaint, Gwendolyn Grayson claims that "whites employed with the Democratic Party receive higher pay and more benefits that I do."
Democratic Party Chairman Redding Pitt said the claim is politically motivated and has no merit.
Grayson worked at the Democratic Party headquarters as a receptionist for four months before resigning Friday. She said in the complaint that she was denied e mail access, business cards and was excluded from party meetings and activities.
"What we hope is that the Democratic Party will change its practices," said Grayson's attorney, Norman Hurst Jr. of Montgomery.
Hurst said Grayson was the only black employee at party headquarters. But Pitt said before Grayson's resignation Friday, two of the party's six employees were black, or 33 percent.
Pitt said Grayson was making a salary equal or better than most receptionists in the area and that he had earlier this week approved a $4,000-a-year pay raise for her. He said she came to the party as a temporary worker and had only been a fulltime employee for about a month.
Pitt said the complaint was politically motivated because of decisions the party made concerning contests of candidates in several legislative races.
An EEOC complaint must be filed before a discrimination lawsuit can be filed against an employer.

So the Alabama DemocRAT Party discriminates against blacks! How can that be? Thought the DemocRATS were supposed to be the only party that helped blacks or so they like everyone to believe.
Maybe this will start to wake some people up!

Damn..... a receptionist that was denied e-mail, business cards and wasn't allowed to attend party meetings and activities all after only four months on the job. Gosh sounds like she wanted to run the show after only one month after becoming a permanent employee. LOL..... GO DEMS GO

This has not been a very good week for the RATS but I have enjoyed it immensely!

Pitt said Grayson was making a salary equal or better than most receptionists in the area and that he had earlier this week approved a $4,000-a-year pay raise for her. Clintonspeak. No reference salary comps in the office. No reference to responsibilities in same. No reference to the amount of time other employees had been employed. My guess would be that she was hostile to Alvin Holmes and Joe Reed which would not have gone over well in that office.

Hurst said Grayson was the only black employee at party headquarters. But Pitt said before Grayson's resignation Friday, two of the party's six employees were black, or 33 percent. Right here, this pretty much sums up the Democrat's philosophy. Its not about right or wrong, its about the math!
Not that any one of them actually know what math is, mind you. But they know its important. It must be! They teach a version of it in public schools.

Just read this and shook my head. AP had it as breaking news when it came out but I hadn't checked my email for awhile and just found it. Cannot believe it got so far as to have a complaint filed!

This type of absurd EEOC complaint is widespread. Often the employer has to pay an attorney to answer the questionnaires and address the other paperwork required by the EEOC. Much of it is wasted time and wasted money.
At least the Democratic Party is reaping what was sown by their own foolish legislation.
A receptionist with a business card? Sure, right. Full insurance after a few weeks of full time employment? Sure, sure, dream on.

RAT Math? Now I know why my daughter had trouble with Math in school!

Good story- I was under the impression blacks are what's left in the Democratic Party in Alabama now.

So the Alabama DemocRAT Party discriminates against blacks! How can that be? Simple, its the same bunch of hypocrites that claim to be the education Party, "for the children", then they fight tooth and toenail against vouchers in order to keep the milk and honey flowing from the NEA.
Of course, its a pesky little problem that the people who get hurt the worst by this just happens to be the RATS most lock-step voting block, inner city minorities. Go figure.
Nice post. Looks like more ammunition in our favor.

It is just so funny to me that it is coming right back at the RATS. Would be inclined to think that they never thought this would become public.
Would tend to believe they promised her a lot of things and didn't deliver! Didn't figure they had to after hiring her.
To: BOBTHENAILER
Would tend to believe that a lot of blacks are reaching a saturation point with the DemocRATS and their taking them forgranted! Really think school vouchers could be the turning point because for the first time parents have a chance to get their children out of some really bad public schools.
I was actually surprised this made the AP breaking wire story.

Thanks mh for the ping. See rdb3 what I mean about covert? They never knew it was coming. Please let her have two or three witnesses. ; )
