Where are the gold bugs NOW?
Gold Prices Online ^ | 06/27/2002 | Lazamataz

Well, 'the new spoosman' and many like him have told me for months that the 'fiat' currency is worthless, and gold is the only valuable currency out there. Disregarding for a second the fact that these gold bugs are so ready to part with their gold for those 'worthless fiat notes', I would like to point out that since the height of their caterwalling, Jun 01 2002, gold is down from 326$ an ounce to 314$ an ounce today. That is a 4 percent drop in less than a month.

The 'fiat currency' people are out to lunch. I don't expect gold to do any better than index with inflation in the long run, and today managed to show a savage loss of $5 an ounce.

Try using your hyperinflated dollars after the crash.

The test frightens the heck out of you. I wonder why?

Everything in it's own time. Remember that if the dollar hyperinflates, no one but gold owners will have money. Everyone else will have just things to lug around for barter. Using John Force again, he doesn't take his car to a track when there isn't a race. If you're happy depending on the government for your security in the event of a disaster, good luck.

Q. What kind of used car saleman wants you to buy his clunker without even being allowed to turn over the engine or take a ride around the block?

A. A scam artist.

Gold has been tested in dire straits for 6000 years and passed every time. See Germany, 1930s for the latest example.

Q: What kind of person doesn't learn from history?

A: He that is doomed to repeat it.

Gold has been tested in dire straits

But you're afraid to test it now. Have you ever tried to use gold for essential purchases anytime in your entire life?

If I walked up to a farmer and tried to buy a binfull of his wheat for a gold coin right now, he would think I was nuts. He won't think I am nuts if a disaster strikes and the dollar hyperinflates, and he will want my gold coin more than he will want that particular binfull of wheat because chances are he will have no money.

You don't call the fire department when there is no fire.

No, he would think you were a scam artist.

Why would he think that? He will have hundreds of people wanting food. I will be one of the few with money. Farmers and gold owners will rule the countryside.

There would not only be riots, it would get MUCH worse than that.

There are ten thousand little "Bosnias" across the USA, where minority neighborhoods are imbedded inside other ethnic areas inside other ethnc areas, like the old cartoon of fish eating fish from guppy to shark.

If small areas of ethnic group "A" inside ethnic group area "B" come under attack by looters or racists or homies, then the buddies of the attacked ethnic group in the larger area will "declare war" on the attackers. I'm not saying this very well, but my point is a many sided race war could explode very fast if the welfare checks stop and the groceries are not restocked.

At that time you do NOT want to be in an area where your ethnic group is a tiny minority.

Perhaps someone should have told the death cults that asymetrical attacks are lousy at defense...

They don't care, their marching orders come direct from Mohammed. Allah will take care of the details, and the more "martyrs" the better.

Fantasy time.

Who will then? The city dweller with a weeks supply of food and no money after the hyperinflation? I don't think so. Most farms today are massive operations they will have the grain everyone will need. It will be a matter of who has the ability to pay, and then who is the best beggar.

The nutjobs with a bag of coins they're afraid to test out?

Yes, just as every time before. People want real money in hard times. Until the government can restore order in a few months, and make emergency distributions of the necessities of life. A few months is a very long time if one has nothing to trade for necessities.

Farmers want Krugerands?

An article of faith, which you're unwilling to test.

A fiery dragon will cross the sky,
Six times before this earth shall die.
Mankind will tremble and frightened be,
For the sixth heralds in this prophecy.

For seven days and seven nights,
Man will watch this awesome sight.
The tides will rise beyond their ken,
To bite away the shores and then
The mountains will begin to roar;
And earthquakes split the plain to shore.

And flooding waters, rushing in --
Will flood the lands with such a din,
That mankind cowers in muddy fen,
And snarls about his fellow men.

He bares his teeth and fights and kills,
And secrets food in secret hills,
And ugly in his fear, he lies,
To kill marauders, thieves and spies.

Man flees in terror from the floods,
And kills, and rapes and lies in blood,
And spilling blood by mankinds hands,
Will stain and bitter many lands.

And when the dragon's tail is gone,
Man forgets, and smiles, and carries on,
To apply himself - too late, too late --
For mankind has earned deserved fate.

His masked smile - his false grandeur,
Will serve the Gods their anger stir.
And they will send the Dragon back,
To light the sky - his tail will crack
Upon the earth and rend the earth;
And man shall flee, King, Lord, and serf.

But slowly they are routed out,
To seek diminishing water spout,
And men will die of thirst before
The oceans rise to mount the shore.

And lands will crack and rend anew,
You think it strange. It will come true.

Her other prophecies foresaw combines, submarines, women's pantsuits, the decline of marriage and children, the fire of London, movies, literacy, etc.

I've never tested the fire department either, that doesn't mean we should get rid of them.

But did she foresee hermaphrodites, rap music and Poptarts?

Seriously though, are you still fighting about gold on this thread? Lazmataz (the Keith Moon of Free Republic) sure got alot of attention by his vanity, huh?

Sure.

"When mankind cooks his cakes with a snap
while listening to his pop and rap
then hermaphrodites will crawl upon the floor
and pharmacist spies break down the door"

How's that?

I enjoy this subject. It's better than putting down Chelsea on those ugly threads. :^)
