Univ. of Tenn. Anti-Tax FReep after action report

At about 1 pm (till 3 pm) today TN Republican and I conducted the first unofficial action of the E. TN chapter. We stood next to Cumberland Avenue in front of the University Center where local politicians and President Shumaker explained why we just NEED an income tax, whether nor not it was constitutional. They are going to shut the university down if a budget doesn't pass by this weekend.

This, of course, is a blatant scare tactic to motivate the students and their parents--who are often campaign doners--to support an IT. This is especially obvious when one realizes that former president and IT supporter Eli Fly said that the University could run for several months without any new income. There is also the fact that the University has flyers out advertising jobs for new secretaries, advisors, and coaches.

We had a great response from the people of Knoxville. Positive responses outnumbered negative 10:1, and even those who didn't agree usually only smiled and shook their heads. We had only 4 rudecondescendingliberals, including 2 guys with long hair, a kid, and a guy driving a VW minibus. Over all, the action was a great success. Hopefully next time we will have several more people and REALLY make a lot of noise!

This is exactly why my family always ear marks our donations to the athletic department as opposed to the educators. Lord only knows what kind of liberal garbage they would use those funds for. The administration at UT is more out of touch with the student body than any other I can think of. UT is a conservative school. I wish the stupid administration could come to grips with that. Go Vols!

Sen Mark Norris was on Fleming and he said those rats put back $300M in cuts made last year...all those college buildings.

At 9:00 Central TOMORROW (Saturday), the TN General Assembly will be in session to debate among several revenue plans. Unfortunately, an income tax is still under consideration.

We need to FReep the Capitol to once again underscore the point that we don't want a socialistic, unconstitutional, intrusive income tax. I will be there. Will you?
