Animal abuse rampant after Zim land seizures
June 28 2002 at 08:25AM
The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) on Friday appealed to the public to help protect Zimbabwe's animals from "unspeakable atrocities" being perpetrated against them.
IFAW President Fred O'Regan said the Zimbabwean NSPCA had recently found a pet pony that had had its hoof chopped off as a warning to its owner, a white farmer, never to return to his farm.
"Pets are beaten, tortured and mutilated in acts of recrimination," O'Regan said in a statement.
He said that IFAW had received reports recently of a farmer who stood by and wept as three of his cattle were euthanased after being slashed in the back with axes.
In the wake of Zimbawe's controversial land seizures, many white farmers have been forced to vacate their land at a moments notice, leaving their animals behind, O'Regan said.
IFAW, which has already donated US$10 000 (about R100 000) to the Zimbabwean NSPCA, appealed to the public to make online donations at: http:// inv9.com/.l/392MM04X24. - Sapa

Let me see if I understand the animal rights agenda correctly:
Killing white people--good.
Maiming animals--bad.
Yeah, that's it.

...to help protect Zimbabwe's animals from "unspeakable atrocities" Zimbabwe's animals are committing the "unspeakable atrocities".
None of these UN NGOs have had a word to say about the plight of the few civilized humans there.

I just sent this to the usual suspects in my mass email groups. It's unfortunate, but there are some people who will become outraged at this barbarity while turning a blind eye to the human horrors ongoing over there.
The way I see it, whatever advances the flow of information can be regarded as somewhat positive.

I believe you are missing the point. The white farmers have and are being killed, blacks who worked on these white owned farms have and are being killed, and since the "war veterans" began this carnage, they have been taking special delight in torturing and killing the housepets of the white farmers. Evil has over-run that country. God bless those poor souls who have suffered so, including those pets.

How in the world do you think this has anything to do with animal rights? Maiming and killing a person's animal is wrong regardless what your political beliefs are.

Now, now. We must respect their culture. It's every bit as good as that established by dead White males. (/nasty sarcasm)
