AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL CONSTITUTION?
6/27/02
Recently a Federal court declared the Pledge of Allegiance to be unconstitutional because it contained the phrase "
under God". This of course violates the most important clause of the entire Constitution, the "Separation of Church and State". However, these same judges might be surprised to learn that at least one blatant reference to God occurs in the very document they claim bans such references; "
by our creator with certain unalienable rights
." Does this mean that our Constitution will soon be declared unconstitutional?
Strangely enough, as a staunch defender of the Constitution I would welcome such a case. Putting the Constitution on trial may be the only way to get lawyers and judges to actually read the document they so often use to make silly decisions. I'm sure they would be quite surprised to discover what is actually written there. I'm sure they would be even more surprised to find what isn't written there; the phrase "Separation of Church and State" does not exist in any of our founding documents.

." Actually, that phrase is in the Declaration of Independence, which is the next document to either be altered or declared unconstitutional. Radical leftists are trying to destroy the instititutions that have made this country great, and they have a reason to do so: The fact that this country is great, that it is the richest, most free and republican nation on earth, angers leftists to no end. The United States demonstrates the triumph of Western Civilization, and therefore leftists feel an urgent need to destroy America.

Damn! Your are right. Can't find my copy of the Constitution since we got a new computer and computer desk! I knew I should have looked for another copy to download before I submitted it to the local rag.

"destroy" to us, "Progress" to the liberal whackos who want to turn it into some unreachable utopia where everyone will never have a hurt feeling again. These people would be considered psychologically nuts in the 1950's.

It never ceases to amaze me to see how these people can attempt to destroy the very environment that makes their existence possible.

Be careful what you wish for! This might bring up the Liberal Dimocrat idea of the Constitution as a "living document." That concept of a Liberal interpretation of the Constitution, basically gives the Liberals an eraser, and allows them to take out all of the parts that they don't like in the Constitution! Personally, I prefer the annoyance of having to periodically fight the issue of "Seperation of Church and State."

...the phrase "Separation of Church and State" does not exist in any of our founding documents. I wonder if these anti-God zealots will want to make that letter written by Thomas Jefferson to a religious group where he used the term "seperation of Church and State" as their "constitution" replacing the real Constitution that Jefferson actually wrote.

I'd just like to know where, in the U.S. Constitution, it says anything to the effect of "separation of church and state..."
In the First Amendment, it does say, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." and unfortunately, so many have interpreted this to be some impenetrable barrier between the mention of God in any public forum. Conveniently, these same people always leave out the following text, "...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Clearly, if Congress "shall make no law..." regarding the etsblishment of religion, then any practice thereof should be allowed.

This might bring up the Liberal Dimocrat idea of the Constitution as a "living document." Too late for that. I remember in 1974, in 6th grade, my teacher telling us that we have a "living constitution", and that it is what makes this country great. It's already ingrained in much of the population (the sheeple). Besides, how often do we win cases of "seperation of church and state"? Not very often. Time to roll the dice; only let's make sure they aren't loaded this time!

I usually get mine from

I hear you can get a pocket Constitution. A small one that you can carry around in your suit pocket. I'm not sure where to get one, though.

How do you propose doing that?

It won't be long before these very same judges declare that teaching or reading the Declaration of Independence in publick skule to also be unconstitutional.

Clearly, if Congress "shall make no law..." regarding the etsblishment of religion, then any practice thereof should be allowed. There's where they have you. Congress is not the ones making the law, the courts are.

FYI - here in Ohio the State National Guard Headquarters and several of their major unit headquarters has copies of the pocket version of the Constitution available. I believe that there distributed by the National Guard Bureau.

I got mine from the CATO Institute. It includes the Declaration of Independence as well. They sent it to me in hopes I would donate to their organization. Right handy little thing. I also have one from the Claremont Institute. Don't know if you can ask for one from their websites, but you might check.

True, however if you read the Constitution there is a clause about seperation of powers. Courts are not allowed to make law. Neither are agencies like the DOT, EPA, etc. Our Constitution has been so perverted that what we have for government bares little resemblance to the document that established it.
Blood, no offence intended to you here. I only wanted to elaborate on your point.

This is an outrage of epic proportions! These judges should be arrested, have "communist pig" tattooed on their foreheads, and then shipped off to North Korea! It's time to take America back from these America-hating marxists. The ACLU and these elitist liberal judges are a bunch of liars and treasonous subversives. For anyone who has studied history knows that that "Separation of Church and state" as used by these bozos is an OUTRIGHT LIE. And I challenge anyone reading this to give me proof from our nationa's history or from the Constitution itself that this bogus principle should be applied to rob people of their freedoms! I will rip their case to shreds in minutes! Come on - I am throwing down the gauntlet - any of your lying liberals want to take me on in a little history challenge? Let's get it out in the open and shed the light of day on this BOGUS LIE once and for all!
