It's found in a series of letters, I believe, between "Founding Fathers" of the USA. From those letters, it was used as a basis for past legislation.
Nope. It's found in a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the leaders of a church, more than 20 years after the Constitution was ratified.
Jefferson was not a signer of the Constitution, BTW.

I can't agree with either of you fully, but I do partially.
This isn't good. But it may end up having some good consequences.

By the same logic, any government document such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are "unconstitutional". They both either specifically refer to the Creator or mention the word "religion". Congressional sessions begin with prayer.
It is the object of the left to destroy this nation and they must and will be stopped. The only questions are when, by what means, and how many innocent will be lost in the process.
Who will rid us of these meddlesome judges ?

Had the discussion several weeks ago that no place in the Constitution did it say "separation of Church and State" Well, as a quick aside, neither will you find the words "right to a fair trial" or "right to privacy"

No, honey, schools everywhere. Except private ones, of course.

That didn't really answer my question. Do differences of opinion regarding "pleasant" word flow determine intelligence?

I agree with you - no big deal.

Remember: these freaks are in San Francisco. Anymore need to be said?? ;-)
However- they are way out of line, although when I saw this I thought "I wondered how long it would be before this happened."
Sad. I would love for it to be overturned by the Supremes, but they are such a crap shoot who knows!!

A Sacramento father who filed this suit didn't like the forced pledge. He is an American citizen who felt his rights were being infringed upon. He took his case to court. He followed the US judicial system. He won the case.Yeah? Well I'm sick of these Athiests forcing THEIR religion down MY thoat. It is a religion with them, they go out and evangelize, they don't allow people of other religions the freedom to practice, it is a religion and they are trying to impose it on the entire country.

This stupid ruling is a great opportunity for W. No less than the likes of Dashole, Leahy, Edwards and Kennedy have proclaimed Bush's judicial nominees to be "out of the mainstream." The White House should be researching NOW to find out how these 4 clowns voted on the 17 clinton/carter judges of the 9th circuit who are so competent and within the mainstream that they find the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional.
Here's hoping that they do not let this chance to press for their judges to slip by.

This guy is on Fox right now; they asked him what he was doing to protect his family and he said, "Praying." And laughed.
Will this man turn in his U.S. currency?

I challenge you to show me where in the US Constitution there is any mention of "separation of church and state".
Both Jefferson and Madison believed that the Establishment clause of the First Amendment required it...and said so in so many words.

The man (the atheist) who brought the case was just asked by the FoxNews guy:
What are you doing to protect your family?
The guy said: I am hoping and praying.
WHAT? A guy who does not believe in God...is praying?
To: truthkeeper
USSC, here we come. This ruling won't be overturned in the USSC. Compelling a fealty to a religious belief is simply not acceptable anymore in this day and age. You're fighting a rear-guard action. The government is more and more becoming strictly religiously neutral. That's the way it is.

The Ninth Circuit is itself unconstitutional -- a bunch of anti-American, communist totalitarians.
They will help make Daschle the minority leader however, so all is not ill.
To: kstewskis
Michael Newdow was the one who initiated the lawsuit. I'm listening to him now .. and screaming at the TV

OK ... how about we ship the liberal nit wits to Mexico??
I'd settle for deporting the Mexican Illegals, but that ain't likely under this President.

This guy says he's trying to protect the Constitution! Incredible.

It's found in a series of letters, I believe, between "Founding Fathers" of the USA. From those letters, it was used as a basis for past legislation. Prove it. I can find MANY items of correspondence back from the birth of our Nation that DO mention GOD. Why don't you take a peek at the Declaration of Independence for starters.
Some argue that religous beliefs are a major cause of war and turmoil. On the global stage, many opinion leaders have been forced to re-examine how much fundamentalist from various religions play a role in social conflicts. Some argue that America, as well as the world, needs to mend fences by adopting a belief-system that translates across all established religions. Only then can world peace be achieved, the theory goes.
That "theory" was postulated in the Communist Manifesto, and it was Stalin, Marx, Lenin, and other such luminaries that subscribed to that "theory".
