[history]
A Saudi Arabian man who attended Marymount University in Arlington, Va., on a student visa was accused yesterday of fraudulently taking at least 50 English-language proficiency tests to allow other foreign student-visa holders to remain in the country illegally.
Saleh Ali Almari, 25, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, was named in a five-page affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria that said authorities found in a search of his Falls Church house a "number of items possibly related to planned acts of terrorism."

Also located was a day planner containing a single entry, dated September 11, "Trachd The World Trade Cente or the Pentagon Trachd for the Plaen,"I distinctly remember having seen the peculiar misspellings "trachd" and "plaen" in an earlier article (months ago?). A quick search of the web shows nothing. Does this ring a bell for anybody else?

Thanks for trying. I haven't found it again yet either, but I know it's out there.

Around May 10 and 11 stories in many papers had bits about the same "plaen" and "trackd" memo. Perhaps this is what we remember.

Popped up on some internet sites. But for FR, couldn't find. The likely title key words are too common for a quick find.

The current article uses the misspelling "trachd", while the older articles say "trackd". The keyword "trachd" (with an "h") didn't show up in the older articles, so Google didn't find them.

Judging by the article in my local newspaper, those mispellings could have come from the reporter and got by the editors.

No doubt you're right. Plus, it's hard to spell-check intentional quoted misspellings (should it have been "trachd" or "trackd"?).
