The minister blamed radical Palestinian organizations for exploiting human weaknesses to recruit bombers.

That they do.
Too bad we don't have this young woman's address.
We FReepers ought to tell her thanks, and send her some money and some flowers.
A conscience that still works is a precious thing.
Glad she listened to hers.

I am left wondering what her fate will be, especially since Mr. Ben-Eliezer didn't answer her question.

Conscience, huh?

"OH MY GOD I'VE GOT A &*^%^&#% BOMB STRAPPED AROUND MY *&^#^& WAIST!!! WHAT THE %#^&^%# AM I DOING?!!??"

I guess that qualifies as "conscience." Anybody conscious with any sense would be thinking it.

Same sort of thing that moved the Japanese to remove landing gear from Kamakaze planes to eliminate the option of a safe landing, eh?

"Congratulations. You're going to do a suicide bombing."

Not exactly Ed McMahan.

That's not quite the same thing. Even American servicemen have taken on suicide missions. At least those kamikazes were still attacking warships and their planes themselves were warplanes and clearly marked as such. This young girl was wearing not just civilian wear but civilian clothes that would make her blend in well with those she wished to kill. Her victims were not military men on vigilant watch against such things- they were ordinary innocent people, children and women among them, going about their daily lives. One is war, the other is cold-blooded murder.

LOL. Not something you'd want to hear from ol' Ed either.

"I suddenly understood what I was about to do, and I said to myself: How can I do such a thing?"
"As her angry handlers tried to persuade her to go through with it, she saw the other bomber blow himself up. He, too, had confessed to her last-minute doubts"
These people know that what they are doing is wrong.

They know very well that they are serving Satan, that this "god" that they refer to as "Allah" is Satan--and definitely not God.

They know that their actions fulfill their own worldly ambitions--revenge, imperialism, self-expression, hate-inspired thirst for blood--who knows what all--sexual frustration, frustration of the power drive, demands of testosterone. But they know very well that they are not fulfilling the will of God!

Arin and others like her can recognize right and wrong, good and evil, the Voice of God and the cackling of Satan. They are responsible for their actions, be they good or evil, godly or satanic.

"the young woman called to him: 'Please, Mr. Minister. What will become of me? I have no future. I don't want my whole life to be ruined because of this. I'm at the beginning of life. I changed my mind.'"
Arin,

The answers are simple and right before you. The answers were there all along.

Just as you knew that you should not commit murder and suicide and you changed your mind, you also know that you have a future, that the world is full of possibilities, that you can use this pivotal point in your life for good, for growth, and for service to God and all people.

Not "Allah"--God.

Use your influence and example to stop this murder, suicide, and bloodshed.

Explain your epiphany to all the world.

Repudiate the bloodthirsty "handlers" and the suicidal murderers and all that they stand for.

Convert to Christianity!

Serve God!

Reject and repudiate this "idol" called "Allah", this false "god", and turn to the real God. There is only one God, and He is served by peace, love, kindness--all the things you love within yourself, the world, and other people. Look into the goodness of your heart, and you will find Him.

Pray to Jesus Christ for guidance! Ask Him to protect you from all evil influences!

God is everywhere! The cosmos is His holy scripture. Truth is there for everyone to see. Your epiphany came when you saw the truth! Tell the world!

There is much reason to rejoice!

There is so much to be happy about!

Repudiate these evil people and the evil that they spread and teach!

Spread joy, peace, love, happiness. Get married. Have children. Teach them goodness.

Convert to Christianity!!!

That's very good that the last thing that went through her head was repentance and compassion for those she was about to murder with her diabolical "friends". You know what is usually the last thing to go through their heads... don't you?

Q: What's the last thing that usually goes through a female suicide bomber's head when they hit the detonator?
A: Her tampon.

She waited 10 minutes for the other bomber to strike, looking about her at the faces in the passing crowd — teen-agers, mothers with children, elderly people. She thought about an Israeli girl her age she had known. "I suddenly understood what I was about to do, and I said to myself: How can I do such a thing?"

I wonder if the terrorists are counting on the way young people (even in the US) commit copycat suicides. Even in the US we have had quite a few (possible) copycat mass-murders/suicides in the past several years.

Most kids who kill themselves do not simultaneously kill others, but some kids don't have that inhibition.

This young woman seemed to still have compassion for humanity. She said she volunteered at first out of compassionate feelings about a friend's death. She said she decided not to go through with the bombing out of compassionate feelings for the people in the area and for an Israeli girl she had known.

Maybe leaders in the Middle East need to reawaken the fires of "compassion for humanity" among the angry young people there. Maybe this compassion is a wedge that can be used to break some of the sway the terrorist leaders have over the kids. Even if it works only in some small way.

I guess I should check to see how well the programs promoting understanding among kids in Northern Ireland worked.

Is anything similar going on in Israel?

I agree. I think someone on FR once wrote that the terrorists are sacrificing both Muslim and non-Muslim children on the altar of their god (who is similar in that way to Moloch).

Arin sounds like Huck Finn ("I'll go to hell then") and Antigone ("I'm gonna throw the dirt on him even if it is against every law"). She turned away from murder, suicide, and death even though everything she had been taught said that these things served "Allah".

It took courage to refuse to commit murder/suicide at the last minute like that, with "Allah" and her "handlers" telling her to "KIll! Kill! Kill!" and screaming for blood.

If only she could get a shove in the right direction, she could devote her life to good things.

If she wants to do good in the world and serve God, and evidently she does, she sould follow the examples of Mother Theresa or Ghandi or Martin Luther King or Washington or Lincoln or others who have had a positive influence.

To use religious symbolism, she should turn away from a "god" of murder, suicide, and death and to the true God, Who is the God of life, truth, goodness, kindness, love, and peace. If only all those wretched people driven to murder and suicide would do the same...!

These people need missionaries more than they need anything else. They definitely need a new religion.

They need positive pressure to convert en masse to Christianity and away from Islam.

Who is Moloch?

Who is Moloch?

From the Catholic Encyclopedia

The chief feature of Moloch's worship among the Jews seems to have been the sacrifice of children, and the usual expression for describing that sacrifice was "to pass through the fire", a rite carried out after the victims had been put to death. The special centre of such atrocities was just outside of Jerusalem, at a place called Tophet (probably "place of abomination"), in the valley of Geennom.

According to III (I) Kings, xi, 7, Solomon erected "a temple" for Moloch "on the hill over against Jerusalem", and on this account he is at times considered as the monarch who introduced the impious cult into Israel. After the disruption, traces of Moloch worship appear in both Juda and Israel.

Sounds like some of the present day Palestinians to me. They are acting as though their god is pleased to have children of all nationalities sacrificed. If they didn't think they were pleasing allah, why would the terrorists who murder children look forward to a reward from him?

Here's another write-up on Moloch.
"King". The sun god of the Canaanites (Ammonites?) in old Palestine and sometimes associated with the Sumerian Baal, although Moloch (or Molekh) was entirely malevolent. In the 8th-6th century BCE, firstborn children were sacrificed to him by the Israelites in the Valleye of Hinnom, south-east of Jerusalem (see also Gehenna). These sacrifices to the sun god were made to renew the strength of the sun fire. This ritual was probably borrowed from surrounding nations, and was also popular in ancient Carthage.

Moloch was represented as a huge bronze statue with the head of a bull. The statue was hollow, and inside there burned a fire which colored the Moloch a glowing red. Children were placed on the hands of the statue. Through an ingenious system the hands were raised to the mouth (as if Moloch were eating) and the children fell into the fire where they were consumed by the flames. The people gathered before the Moloch were dancing on the sounds of flutes and tambourines to drown out the screams of the victims.

According to some sources, the Moloch in the Old Testament is not a god, but a specific form of sacrifice.

The terrorists have chosen a different method of slaughter, but children are both suicidal bombers and victims just the same. I can imagine the ancient Moloch-worshippers brainwashied their population into believing that killing children was good. The Palestinians of today do the same.
