What a shock. I remember early in his career with the Astros he struck out the first eight batters. Tommy Lasorda had the pitcher bunt so he wouldn't get nine in a row.

Eh, no. That was Jim Deshaies in 1986 and Lasorda sent up a pinch-hitter for the pitcher who popped out. And, no, I don't have it condused because Deshaies is the only major leaguer in modern times to begin a game with eight straight strikeouts.
