When Dale Earnhardt died in a wreck on the track, was the race stopped and the fans sent home? No, but then fatalities are not unexpected with living human bodies mixed in with that much steel and speed...

What a shock. I remember early in his career with the Astros he struck out the first eight batters. Tommy Lasorda had the pitcher bunt so he wouldn't get nine in a row. Eh, no. That was Jim Deshaies in 1986 and Lasorda sent up a pinch-hitter for the pitcher who popped out. And, no, I don't have it condused because Deshaies is the only major leaguer in modern times to begin a game with eight straight strikeouts.

New flash, son. This is a game. "Brother in Arms" oh please!

You know, that is what I would have done, posted my opinion and moved on, but I got a flood of personal invective in return. I showed me that you were a cluster of semi literates, that in Christian charity, I should try to educate Perhaps before you refer to people who disagreed with your nasty comments as "semi literates," you should work on your grammar a bit. And please spare us your pompous reference to "Christian charity," unless you think being a troll qualifies you for sainthood.

With all due respect Arne, please don't classify all of us women as not being sympathetic to this issue...some of us here are women and are as stricken by this as you men are....ask CardinalsRule for example...and myself being a Yankees fan...would be just as grief stricken had it been one of the Yankees who passed.
Some of the people posting the moronic and juvenile posts are just doing so because a rally cry went forth for a commrade in trouble.....

What does bother me is that people who post their minority views are censored. Heaven, no, we wouldn't want to hurt anyone's precious feelings, would we? Please show us where your Servant comrade or yourself were censored. Last time I looked, it appeared that all your posts were intact. As for not wanting to "hurt anyone's precious feelings," it appears that you and your buddy are the crybabies whining about censorship when you were both deservedly flamed for making tasteless comments. If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen, honey.

When Dale Earnhardt died in a wreck on the track, was the race stopped and the fans sent homeThe accident happened 200 ft from the end of the race, so I guess the answer is yes.

Thanks for posting that interview- Kile always appeared to lead very modest and professional career and life. He was not one to seek the camera or attention despite his enormous success. Here in St. Louis, the Cardinals are the focal point of the community, and it has been a tough week losing Jack Buck and Kile-

Valerie, the sad event, and the righteous response by those who care, is obviously a mound offering far beyond your swing skill. You're not welcome in any setting where fun and fellowship is on the menu. Knock yourself out at Lilleth Fair.

Maybe in your opinion we deserve to be flamed and that is fine. I did not anywhere in any of my post complain about being flamed. As I have repeatedly said, you are entitled to your opinion. I have a problem with posts being pulled because they might be upsetting to someone.

They must have been pulled recently, as they were up there for a long time, enough time for many, many people to comment on Servant's tastelessness. Frankly, it is to Servant of the Nine's benefit that these remarks were pulled, as there won't be any more people who read those original comments and think that he's a jerk.
To: ArneFufkin
I am assuming by your last few posts that you have first "hand" knowledge of celebacy.

Some of the people posting the moronic and juvenile posts are just doing so because a rally cry went forth for a commrade in trouble.... Well if this is indicative of the L.com folks who migrated over, I'm just as glad that I've never opened one of their threads....
And certainly never will now.

To any and all relatives who knew and loved the late Darryl Kile, and are suffering genuine grief at this moment, I offer my condolences. Though as a widow and the mother of children who lost their father at a young age, I know none of them are reading this now, and the fiesty grief expressed by strangers here is all about celebrity worship and the bonding ritual of public mourning, and not about her husband and her family, just as the comments about the game's rescheduling are not about them personally either.
To: eddie willers
Not all of them eddie...just a handful. You can clearly see there are only a handful on their daily thread anyway.

Oh look, we've found TWO Freepers on this thread without hearts.
I'm a woman, and a baseball fan, and am heartbroken for Darryl Kile's family.
Have a heart, LisaAnne, and cut the old, worn-out, envious cracks.
To: NYCVirago
You're kidding, right? I've known swervie for years. He IS a jerk. (But we do enjoy kicking him around, does that make us BAD people)???
To: OneidaM
HARUMPF! I resemble that remark ;^)
