NIGHT GAME
(Words & Music : Paul Simon) There were two men down
And the score was tied
In the bottom of the eighth
When the pitcher died
And they laid his spikes
On the pitcher's mound
And his uni-form was torn
And his number was left on the ground
Then the night turned cold
Colder than the moon
The stars were white as bones
The stadium was old
Older than the screams
Older than the teams
There were three men down
And the season lost
And the tarpaulin was rolled
Upon the winter frost

If the death was not homicide or suicide, this is an example of what they call synchronicity. When two seemingly rare events happen with some strong connection, for no apparent reason. Such events are noteworthy strictly because they are so unusual.
I have several examples in my own life. For example, my grandfather, a monster in human form, died within three days of the close of purchase on my first house. My sister was married four days after my divorce was final. And my Australian girlfriend arrived in the US the very day my ex-wife remarried (today). I've also had a whole heap of important things happen on the 4th of different months. My mom died Jan 4, my aunt Steffi died Feb 4, my first girlfriend broke up with me May 4, I attempted suicide June 4, my wedding date was October 4 (which happened to be the 51st wedding anniversary of the justice of the peace -- another example of synchronicity), and my first engagement was November 4. I wonder what will happen July 4, when I'll be in Boston with my girlfriend...
Sorry for the analytical stuff. I've had so much death in my family that I don't quite know how to act any more. I've seen Kile pitch, but didn't know him, and still I felt a lump in my chest when hearing of his death. Maybe it's because baseball is such an American sport, and he was so young.

Where are their other pitchers? This is no excuse to cancel.
It should require a forfeit.
Yeah...I want reparations too.
Obviously you're a product of public education, the selfishness/entitlement/"me first"/uneducated attitude is quite apparent
Dolt.

I can't imagine any team from the 20s through the 50s caving in like this over one dead player. WussiesI bet if you opened your mouth with that kind of crap - in the 20's or today - you'd find it quickly closed for you...with a bat shoved down your throat. Just shut up already!
Freakin' terrorist....

I am having enough problems dealing with this and don't need your smart ass comments.
I'll tell you what next time a family member or friend of yours dies I hope someone says something like this to you.

These people claim to be and are paid as ProfessionalsA true professional has respect for the dead -- unlike you. 'Tis better to remain quiet and have everyone think you're an a$$, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

These people claim to be and are paid as Professionals. Let me guess, you're against postponements due to rain too, right? Those "professional" players should be able to play in monsoon conditions, right? And power failures should never cancel a game, either. Why, back in the good old days, the players would play in the dark!
Get a grip -- the game will be rescheduled, just like a game that is cancelled because of rain. Joe Girardi of the Cubs was crying when he made today's announcement. I guess he's just a "wuss" in your eyes, right?

He is just trying to get banned and get to use his new screen name, 7of9.

Don't pay attention to the moron. They are the yardstick you measure good people against.
To: Dan from Michigan
I don't think you'd need more than a shot glass full of beer to last through the entertainment.
It would only be about 15 seconds before someone would be stomped into the grass and covered with tobacco spit by all those "wusses."
To: CARDINALRULES
Hey--as a National League/Mets fan for a long time please accept my sincere condolences for this horrible tragedy. Stan the Man has always been one of my favorite ballplayers, and I always had a spot in my baseball heart for the Cards.

The fact I spelled it out for you and you still don't get it is very bad.
