Man Convicted of Killing Congressman's Son Gets 90 Years

CHICAGO (AP) - One of two men convicted of killing the son of U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush was sentenced to 90 years in prison.

Leo Foster, 34, and Darcell Prince, 25, were convicted by separate juries in March of murder, armed robbery and impersonation of a police officer in the 1999 slaying of Huey Rich. Prince is to be sentenced next week.

Prosecutors said Foster and Prince wore bulletproof vests, carried fake badges and identified themselves as police when they shot Rich, 33, as he ran from them during a robbery. Rich died four days later.

Defense attorneys said the men intended only to collect a drug debt and not kill him.

Rush, a Democrat who represents a South Side Chicago district, did not attend Friday's sentencing.

Assuming they serve 70% of the sentence before being eligible for parole --- that's a good 50 years. Leo Foster would be 84 by then and his partner in crime Darcel Prince would be 75. They'll have plenty of time hanging heavy on their hands for killing a Congresscritter's son. Look where being a pretend cop gets ya. Now that's what I call poetic justice.

It ought to be the same for killing anybody's son or daughter.

Funny how murderers always say they didn't mean to do it after they're caught. Though back when they did do it, they meant it. Ahhh, for the good ol' death penalty!

I think the severity of this sentence has no less to do with impersonating a cop than the murder. Thou shalt not pretend to be a Lord, whenst thou is a peasant.

Bobby Rush?
Former Black Panther?
Son named after Huey P. Newton?
Whatever.

These muderers should be hung by the neck until dead.
But then, there's no real justice anymore.
No fear of God.

Exactly. I can just see a similar, reverse headline:, "Congressman's Son aquitted of killing area man".

Bobby Rush was Sergeant at Arms for the Panthers. The gun guy for the Panthers.

Dig that if you will.

"The liberal's reward is self-disgust"

Sort of applies here, in a twisted way, eh?

Bobby Rush's son Huey was recently shot and killed and suddenly Rush has decided to recast himself as a supporter of gun control complaining about America's "glorification of the gun." Apparently Rush completely ignored the role that he and the Panthers played in glamorizing the gun and then using it to murder anyone who got in their way.

In fact Rush himself spent 6 months in prison in 1969 on a weapons charge! The Black Panthers called for and in some cases carried out assassinations of police and public officials as well as horribly brutalizing its own members (in a horrible irony, Huey Newton regularly whipped Panthers who deviated from his strict discipline.)

To my knowledge Rush has never disowned or repudiated his past with the Panthers, and in fact has celebrated it. He was one of several former radicals who helped support Stokely Carmichael (aka Kwame Ture) and spoke gushing words for all the things Ture had done for Africans (like standing by and saying nothing while his Guinean dictator pal Sekou Toure drove a quarter million people into exile).

The death of Rush's son is a tragedy, but Rush has more in common with the thugs who killed his son than with those who earnestly want to ban guns to end violence.

As if banning guns actually "ends" violence.
Washington DC, New York City, and Nazi Germany come to mind...

The Sins of the father will be visited upon the son.

Can you imagine that a "former" Black Panther is allowed to become a Congressman?!

If Bin Laden ever comes to America, maybe he can run for president, with 12 to 15 MILLION ISLAMIC VOTERS...errr, I mean: ILLEGAL ISLAMIC VOTERS he would surely WIN!

Our only saving Grace here is The Lord God Almighty and The US Constitution.

Providing that The Constitution would still be in force.

I guess that American standards have dropped even lower since...X42's UGLY sidekick...HILLZEBEAST slithered into the halls of the US Senate, to take her place amongst her COMRADES.

What the heck is going on with most American Voters?

Are they just plain Ignorant or have they been so Dumbed Down by the Liberal Limo DemocRat crowd, that they can No longer think for themselves?!

The US Congress and the Senate, ought to take a good look at themselves...and hang their collective empty heads in SHAME!

"...What the heck is going on with most American Voters?

The "problem" with the voters that elected this former black panther hood - is that they are black, and see race as trumping everything.
Black is beautiful...regardless of how evil, ignorant or criminal any particular black icon may be.

Funny how murderers always say they didn't mean to do it after they're caught.

What they MEAN to say is "I didn't mean to get caught, and I'm sorry I did."
