USO Canteen FReeper Style...Liberty R&R to New York Come Join Us on our Cyber Trip....June 22,2002
Victoria Delsoul, Aquamarine and Snow Bunny

Posted on 06/22/2002 4:00:25 AM PDT by Snow Bunny

This is a quote from one of our FReeper FRiends....ClaraSuzanne
" Because an attack on one is an attack on all. When I saw the Towers fall on TV,
Saw the planes fly into them.
and also saw the damage to the Pentagon
and remember Todd Beamer and his fellow passengers.
I think these terrorists did not ask
who was from Texas,California, NewYork or Any other state.
All they wanted to do was kill Americans
We are all from New York"

Flying into New York, we fly over the grounds of West Point.

The United States Military Academy at West Point stands tall along the Hudson River in more ways than one.

Working up an appetite before Breakfast a visit to Niagara Falls…..beautiful

Ahhhhh…….Breakfast at Tiffany’s (keep those credit cards locked up…..giggle)

After breakfast a nice leisurely walk through Central Park

And for something Very Romantic a Horse drawn Carriage ride

Lets see more of the State of New York and head over to Watertown, New York to one of their many beautiful parks and numerous playgrounds located around the City.

The City of Watertown is located in the northeast section of New York State at the juncture of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River

Watertown is in Jefferson County , it borders Lake Ontario on the west and the St. Lawrence River on the north and it is also located directly south of the Province of Ontario, Canada. The St. Lawrence River and Hill Island are the dividing lines between the United States and Canada

There are several trails dual-purpose used for hiking and biking in the warm months. And for cross-country skiing and downhill skiing in the winter there are several other areas which are located in the nearby Adirondack Mountains including Whiteface Mountain, site of the 1980 Winter Olympic games. Indoor and outdoor ice-skating are also popular.

LOOK there is room for a lot of us from the FReeper USO Canteen. Yipeee!

A quick snack to keep our energy up …….a Coney Island hotdog is a must

A visit to the Albany, State Capitol of New York is a another special outing.

Lunch will be served outdoors surrounded by beautiful flowers and the best from the finest restaurants in all of New York State. Eat to your hearts desire.

On a glamorous evening in New York, when the City comes alive in a different way, with the lights and sounds of what New York is so famous for. There are so many choices to pick from……

Do you like Jazz ? There is a Jazz Festival from June 19 - 23 and we are just in time for it on our Liberty day with our troops from New York.

Metropolitan Opera

Carnegie Hall

Across from Carnegie Hall, Trattoria Dell’Arte features the largest antipasto bar in New York, a sprawling selection of seafood and vegetable specialties perfect for parties of all sizes. Designed after a Tuscan artist’s studio, the rooms include half-finished paintings, a wine cellar dining room, and a candle-filled private room

Tribute To HEROES

Tribute to Vietnam Veterans....Please click on picture

The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Good morning Bunny. In a half-an-hour I will be leaving to spend 8 days with screaming teenagers at a confirmation camp. Offers of moral support for this old guy with no children are appreciated.

Ray Charles, America the Beautiful (click on graphic)

America the Beautiful
Lyrics by Katherine Lee Bates
Music by Samuel A. Ward

Oh beautiful, for heroes proved,
In liberating strife,
Who more than self, our country loved,
And mercy more than life,

America, America, may God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divined.

And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:

Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain,

But now wait a minute, I'm talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, in a brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.

You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this
(America, America, God shed his grace on thee)
America, I love you America, you see,
My God he done shed his grace on thee,
And you oughta love him for it,
Cause he, he, he, he, crowned thy good,
He told me he would, with brotherhood,
(From sea to shining sea).
Oh Lord, oh Lord, I thank you Lord
(Shining sea).

Thank you soooo much for all you both did for today's thread.

I tried for two hours to get the 911 photos to be side by side. hahaha...It worked perfect in a post for some reason lined up lengthwise in the thread. I am so sorry. But the rest of it worked ok.

Thank you so much !

You've done a wonderful job! God Bless you both.

I think is the new software, which doesn't allow us to place the photos side by side.
