Actually, I refer to Southwest as the 'bus station of the Sky' (no assigned seating, first come first serve)
Actually they run a tight ship, but it is a zoo most of the time flying with kids etc.

Southwest didnt even come up..

Bravo for Southwest!!!
If you have ever had the experience of sitting next to a fat pig and being involuntarily forced to give up the space you paid for in exchange for the privledge of being sweated on by a perfect stranger then you would really appreciate this move by Southwest.
The other airlines will fall in line and begin charging within thirty days.
The FAA defines a standard passenger as 170 pounds.
This is long overdue.

170? Are you sure? That seems a little low to me!

persons of size They have a PC term for everything these days.
To: codebreaker
Yep, activist (victimist) groups will be outraged.
Actually, this is a boon for the people of near standard size who pay for a seat only to have some of it taken up by the portly/large person sitting next to them.

I better lose about 20 pounds if I want to fly Southwest!

What do you want to bet that the Jazzercize Jumbo from CA will make Southwest her next target?

Now I wish we could get to work about having a 'crying babes/children section' at the back of the plane with a soundproof curtain!

AS it happens the last time I flew SW Airlines, the flight was 99.9% full. I sat at the very back of the cabin, just in front of the head by the window. The fellow who sat in the aisle seat on the same row was a starting center for an NFL team. Lucky for me, the flight crew made sure that the seat between us was the only empty seat on the flight. (They cater to pro athletes, I guess). That turned out to be the only empty seat on the plane. I don't know what the point of this is except to point out that not all big people are fat, lazy, slobs - some of them are just big people.

Oh no! Not her again..

I always sit in the very back on Southwest, most people don't want to sit in seats that dont recline and so you ususally get an extra seat.

The airline... will begin charging 'persons of size' for two seats if they think they may not fit comfortably into one.
"Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!"
To: codebreaker
Wonder if they will allow a person who can fit into what is left of the second seat to bargin with the chubby person for access to the remainder of that seat?
