Country singer Toby Keith has some choice words for Peter Jennings.
Toby Keith says the producer of an ABC 4th of July TV special rescinded an offer to have the country singer perform his current hit after the show's host, World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings, heard the song and vetoed it.

Ragged Old Flag By John R. Cash, © 1974 House of Cash, Inc.
I walked through a county courthouse square, On a park bench an old man was sitting there. I said, "Your old courthouse is kinda run down." He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town." I said, "Your old flagpole has leaned a little bit, And that's a Ragged Old Flag you got hanging on it."
He said, "Have a seat," and I sat down. "Is this the first time you've been to our little town?" I said, "I think it is." He said, "I don't like to brag, But we're kinda proud of that Ragged Old Flag.
"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there when Washington took it across the Delaware. And it got powder-burned the night Francis Scott Key Sat watching it writing Say Can You See. And it got a bad rip in New Orleans With Packingham and Jackson tuggin' at its seems.
"And it almost fell at the Alamo Beside the Texas flag, but she waved on though. She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill. There was Robert E. Lee, Beauregard, and Bragg, And the south wind blew hard on that Ragged Old Flag.</p?
"On Flanders Field in World War I She got a big hole from a Bertha gun. She turned blood red in World War II. She hung limp and low by the time it was through. She was in Korea and Vietnam. She was sent where she was by her Uncle Sam.
"She waved from our ships upon the briny foam, And now they've about quit waving her back here at home. In her own good land here she's been abused -- She's been burned, dishonored, denied, and refused.
"And the government for which she stands Is scandalized throughout the land. And she's getting threadbare and wearing thin, But she's in good shape for the shape she's in. 'Cause she's been through the fire before And I believe she can take a whole lot more.</P.
"So we raise her up every morning, take her down every night. We don't let her touch the ground and we fold her up right. On second thought, I do like to brag, 'Cause I'm mighty proud of the Ragged Old Flag.
Our Huntsville arena football team had a local rap artist write a song for them, and every time it plays, all the old white people in the stands get up and cheer and dance along with everyone else.
Well if you ask me where I come from
Here's what I tell everyone
I was born by God's dear grace
In an extraordinary place
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
It's a big 'ol land with countless dreams
Happiness ain't out of reach
Hard work pays off the way it should
Yeah, I've seen enough to know that we've got it good
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
There's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes
The price that it cost to be free
I pledge allegiance to this flag
And if that bothers you, well that's too bad
But if you got pride and you're proud you do
Hey, we could use some more like me and you
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Yes there's a lady that stands in a harbor
For what we believe
And there's a bell that still echoes
The price that it cost to be free
No, it ain't the only place on earth
But it's the only place that I prefer
To love my wife and raise my kids
Hey, the same way that my daddy did
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle...fly
Where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Greatness and hip-hop are two words that are mutually exclusive. Mr. "Thug Life" tatoo got the fitting end that he asked for.
So you're saying it's an acquired taste? Perhaps some day I will have a reason to acquire it. I hope it's OK to listen to at volumes that don't rattle the windows, though.
I mean the windows in the building across the street - not the ones in the car it's blaring from.
Shalom.
Umm... Let's just call that a matter of opinion and leave it at that.
BTW, after he was shot in the groin the first time, he changed his name to 1-Pac.
Maybe a week at my deer camp....
And you should give me he techno. Electronica is the closest thing to classical symphonic music we make today, besides for classical symphonic music of course.
If you have Morpheus or Kaza check out: Dido (Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion Mix)
So you deer hunt....I knew there was hope for you...just an instinctive feeling I've had all along.
Stay Safe.
And three guesses who I'd think would make a great performer to have sing...
He was always a NIN and the Ministry afficianado before techno. Jane's Addiction as well....that's a group he and I both liked a lot.
