I think it's a joke, which is too bad - some of those recipes sound pretty good...

New Born Golden Retriever Bourguignon
Yield: 4 servings

5 medium onions sliced
2 ts shortening
1 Ts salt
1/2 Ts crushed thyme
1 1/2 tb flour
1 1/2 c red burgundy
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms
1 new born golden retriever (ready to eat)
1/2 Ts crushed marjoram
1/8 Ts pepper
3/4 c beef stock

Cook and stir onions and mushrooms in hot shortening until onions are tender, drain on paper towels.

Brown meat in same skillet, add more shortening as necessary. Remove from heat. Sprinkle seasonings over the retriever. Mix flour and retriever stock, pour into skillet. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Stir in burgundy. Cover, simmer until retriever is tender, 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

The liquid should always just cover the meat. (If necessary, add a little more bouillon and burgundy - 1 part bouillon to 2 parts burgundy.) Gently stir in onions and mushrooms, cook uncovered 15 minutes, or until heated through.

"IMHO this is not funny at all."

It is funny, but it's also absurd. Just as the use of the initials: PETA, refering to People Eating Tasty Animals is absurd.

What did Rush Limbaugh used to say about illustrating absurdity by being even more absurd (or something like that)?

Sites like this point out the absurdity of the animal rights movement and it's placing the welfare of animals above Mankind, because, they believe the evolutionist faith, that man is just an evolved animal.

Reminds me of the story of the starving man that was arrested and hauled into court because he had killed and eaten a California Condor.

The man explained to the judge that he was really hungry and that's why he had done it, and the judge had mercy on the man and dismissed the charges.

But before he left the court the judge wanted to ask one thing of the man. He motioned for him to come close to the bench and asked, "Tell me, what did that condor taste like?"

To which the man replied, "Well, it's sort of hard to say. But I'd say it tasted like a cross between a bald eagle and a spotted owl."

I completely embarrassed a girl here at work when she sent of the Bonsai Kitten to basically everyone she knew demanding that we do something about it, so I sent back, to everyone of course, that it was a hoax.

That's still one of my favorite websites.

Yeah, it is very realistic!

I sent it to my sister in law in South Africa... she's a dedicated, one might even say rabid cat lover.
She was NOT amused. I am a baaaad man!

I thought it was funny until I saw that. It's not funny to make fun of kittens. Now seals? That's another story

Wedding Bliss

"Many of my clients would like to have squab or cornish game hen at their wedding receptions but can't afford it. Pets or Food's low prices on Ready to Eat parakeet dinners is a great low cost alternative for brides planning their weddings on a budget! No one knows they're not eating squab!"

Trust me, Ed. It's a joke.

Whenever I try to substitute like that, it never comes out right, though. It just never really works for me. So now I have a rule of thumb - do it right, or don't do it at all. ;)
