I recently received the following encouraging e-mail:
Fellow Catholic of the Cleveland Diocese:
At long last, faithful pro-life Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland have a website of our own:
http://www.clevelanddiocese.com/
Unlike the Official Diocese of Cleveland website, (which devotes seven pages to its ambiguous "Gay and Lesbian Ministry" and zero pages to its Pro-life Ministry) you will not find a Gay Pride Rainbow Triangle at
http://www.clevelanddiocese.com/
Why do the Northeastern Ohio laity need their own website?
* For several years the Cleveland Diocese through the Campaign for Human Development had been giving thousands of dollars to an organization named Organize! Ohio. One of the member organizations of Organize Ohio at the time was the National Abortion Rights Action League. (NARAL). Last year, the Diocese of Cleveland again recommended Organize Ohio for a $30,000 Campaign for Human Development grant. It was only when local lay Catholics discovered this grant, organized through the Internet, contacted national organizations, and appealed directly to the National Director of CHD that this grant was finally blocked. (Local diocesan officials had ignored pleas to stop the grant.)
This controversy made national news and can be read about here:
An excerpt:
On August 25, Father Robert J. Vitello, executive director of the Catholic Campaign For Human Development (CCHD), wrote CRC president Terrence Scanlon that CCHD had withdrawn a $30,000 grant by the diocese of Cleveland to Organize! Ohio, an activist group affiliated with the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL)... Father Vitello wrote Scanlon: "As soon as it came to my attention that Organize! Ohio had accepted membership from National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (NARAL), the proposed grant to this organization was rescinded."
A footnote: Remember, however, there were grants from previous years that were not blocked and resulted in thousands of dollars going to Organize! Ohio.
* More recently, it was discovered that the Official Diocese of Cleveland Website contained a schedule of Gay Pride Weekend events. (This, despite the horrendous ongoing scandal within the Church involving members of the clergy homosexually raping minors.) Once again, local Catholics were able to organize and pressure the Diocese to remove this highly offensive material from its website.
* By the way, if you do not believe that a Diocese in the middle of a seemingly demonic scandal involving the homosexual molestations of teen boys would openly have an obnoxious GAY Pride Rainbow Triangle on its website, here is the link:

There are other examples but my point is quite simple, if things are going to better, we must first shine the light of truth on what is wrong. Loyal and faithful Catholics need a way to organize so that we can quickly respond. This is not only a right we have as Catholics, but a duty. The current scandal has given each of us a unique chance to give a profound gift to God. That gift is heroism. We must stand up and fight for what we believe. Help rebuild the one true Church here in Northeastern Ohio.
The late Cardinal John Carberry almost constantly implored the faithful to pray the Holy Rosary. Let us take his advice with the special intention of savings souls that are currently discouraged and bewildered by the ongoing scandals here in Northeastern Ohio.
The cardinal
Why not send this to a friend?
A friend claims he is printing up 5,000 postcards with the Gay Pride Triangle on the front, the words "Diocese of Cleveland" printed on top (in Rainbow script) and the words "Bishop Pilla Tear Down that Triangle" underneath. I hope he follows through. The blasphemy has got to be stopped
And these are the men leading the sheep to slaughter.
They supposed to be leading the sheep to God and His law. Where is the Pope? Why is there even a nanosecond of hesitation to excommunicate?
Perhaps Pilla is someone who should not have been ordained.
A few years ago, orthodox Catholics would frequently speculate that our current Pope would one day be know as Pope John Paul the Great. We no longer hear such speculation.
I am praying and fasting for God to send us the next St. Francis or St. Ignatius. In the meantime, each and every Catholic needs to get out there and fight for our Faith. The longer blasphamies like this last, the more souls will go to Hell.
Those queers and lesbos sure are sneaky, eh?
Don't blame the Pope for the numerous cardinals, bishops and priests who do not listen to him and have been just waiting for him to kick the bucket. They know how he feels about their activities and they ignore him at every turn. I heard a turncoat priest say one time, "Look, John Paul won't be around forever. We'll be luckier next time around."
It is a favorite liberal tactic. If you can't change what you want and an authority will not do your bidding, simply ignore everything they tell you to do. Marginalize them. Stick them in a corner and pretty soon everyone else will ignore them too.
JPII has been in an awful struggle with these people. Pray for him.
I do know that the webmaster responsible for the Gay Pride Triangle on the official Cleveland Diocese website is an open homosexual, employed by the diocese, preparing to join the Marianist religious order.
"WE will rape your children, destroy your Church, and use your money while we do it. Don't believe us, check out your own Diocesan website, Cleveland Catholics, and see our GAY PRIDE RAINBOW TRIANGLE! P.S. Don't spend too many hours trying to find more than a sentance of pro-life info."
You don't know this. In fact, nobody knows.
Are the Catholic threads going to start sounding like the Calvinist threads?
Sinkspur: You don't know this. In fact, nobody knows.
Our Lady at Fatima: More souls go to hell for sins of the flesh than for any other kind of sin.
Things may be different in your diocese, sinkspur, but here in Cleveland, I speak daily to once strongly orthodox Catholics now filled with doubt. Some I have been able to convince that they are being called to stand up and fight for the true Faith. Some have told me that the Catholic Church was once a Rock that they could rely upon, but not anymore. I know at least two Catholics thinking about joining a St. Pius X Chapel. This may be merely anecdotal evidence to you, but when you hear the same types of stories every single day (some first hand, some second hand), you begin to beg for God's mercy. Barring a miracle, which is not out of the question, we have only seen the tip of the iceburg of the damage which will be caused by this ongoing scandal of homosexuals in the Catholic priesthood.
How many cases of pederasty have you had?
In Fort Worth, we've had one documented case of abuse (and it was a lay choir director who harrassed a lay woman). Our diocesan website is boring, with just a message from our bishop and links to parishes and diocesan organizations. No pink triangles; in fact, we have no ministry to any kind of gay organizations.
Our bishop, Joseph DeLaney, isn't known as a conservative or a liberal; in fact, his emphasis is to Hispanic ministry. He is a very humble man, who eats two meals a day and can pack everything he owns in his 11 year old car, if he had to move.
We've got, what I would call a very "relaxed" diocese. No controversies, no complainers, no screamers.
Like most dioceses, most parishes are served by one priest. Those that aren't, like ours, have to cover at least one other parish.
We've got permanent deacons coming out our ears, and are about to ordain another 22 in September. That'll bring the total number to 174, in a small Texas diocese with 98,000 Catholics.
I will pray for you and your diocese. I haven't encountered one single individual in our parish or diocese who has expressed a single reservation about the Church. On Pentecost, we welcomed 55 new Catholics into our parish. I know them, since I worked with them through two years of RCIA. They are strong, vibrant, good people, who will be exemplary Catholic witnesses.
Cleveland diocese suspends 12th priest
From the article:
In addition to the 12 priests in the Cleveland diocese currently on suspension, 13 other retired and former priests were identified by the diocese as having been accused in the past of sexual abuse of minors.
Interestingly enough, if you read the above linked article, the last Priest suspended appears to be completely inncoent. Another victim of this whole debacle.
I will pray for you and your diocese.
Thank you.
