FReeper Sleuths! Gary Condit and the Mystery of the Chandra Levy Pinky Ring!

"Police believe this missing tiny pinkie ring could be the key to solving the Chandra Levy murder case.

A gift from her mother, Susan in 1998, it was one of the 24-year-old Bureau of Prisons intern's most cherished possessions and her family has said she wore it constantly.

The 14-carat gold ring was bought for $416 and has two diamond chips and the initials "CL" inscribed.

But it was not among the personal items found during the extensive police search of the wooded hillside in Rock Creek Park where Levy's remains were discovered last week, Washington police spokesman Joseph Gentile said yesterday. "

After doing an exhaustive search of my own image archive, I could only find one image where Chandra is shown wearing a ring (below left). This ring happens to be on her ring finger and NOT on her pinky as has been reported in the press. Certainly, it may be a different ring, but it might just be the one described above and pictured below.

In this thread, FReepers brigette and Helen, along with others, were discussing this ring and the ring on Condit's finger found in the photo below . I have also searched my personal news photo archive and simply cannot find another photo of Condit wearing ANY rings..or any ring at all!

Now, some would say that Condit would be insane to wear Chandra's ring, but I say he's a nut, and at this point in the investigation (I believe, August of 2001), a point where he took a little swipe at a photographer, he had this small ring on his finger? And if you were the guilty party and had the ring, what better place to keep it but on your very own finger.

Was this an act of Providence? Coincidence? Maybe both. But either way, I'd like to see, and the police should certainly see, an enlargement of that photo with Condit wearing a tiny little ring on his pinky finger.

So what gives FReepers? Can any of you find an image of Condit where he is wearing a ring on ANY of his fingers?

There is your mission!

I've always bought the John LeBoutillier (NewsMax) story about the biker dude picking her up on his motorcycle to "meet" Condit and then doing the deed, splitting the country, with Condits help.

I think the ring was taken by the biker dude, because he perceived it to be of value or, more likely, Condit told him about it, that Chandra would be wearing that ring, and he (Condit) wanted it as "proof" that the deed was carried out.

So, to sum it all up, I say the pinky ring is either with Condit, to be disposed of at a garbage can near Luray, VA......NOT,........ or in Haiti, with the biker dude. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it....do I win????

"And in an excellent column in the New York Press, Christopher Caldwell sheds light on a few items of interest that have escaped widespread attention. He details the "Mafia-like relationship that Condit has with his top staffers, particularly Mike Lynch in his Modesto office and Mike Dayton in Washington, both of whom could now face charges for obstruction of justice." Caldwell reports it was Dayton who drove Condit to Alexandria to junk the watch from his ex-girlfriend/adulterer, Joleen McKay. and more interesting, "Dayton seems to have procured McKay for Condit in the first place. Dayton and McKay had a relationship in college, and Dayton introduced her to his boss by arranging for the three of them to go out for dinner, and then not showing up."

Ahem...butt kicking great sleuthing, NYCgal and company!

The reason those two photos were memory-ingrained is because they were published right after the watch box dumping. We were all examining Condidit's wrist with the tan line for the watch. Meanwhile, we were snickering and making off-color comments about men who wear pinky rings. WHEW! Memory intact.

Sorry Reg...off topic here for a moment...

Fact: Chandra was last seen in black spandex pants and a t-shirt according to her official missing persons flyer. That would have been the attendant at the gym that gave that info. (Chandra most likely showered at the gym, put on the clothes and left the evening of 4/30.)

Fact: Chandra was found with a black spandex pants, (knotted), and a t-shirt.

So, did she meet with her killer as she left the gym? That would mean whoever killed her took her keys and went into her apartment and played Chandra on the internet for some four hours, thoroughly debunking the serial killer Geregos school of thought.

Did she go home and sleep in her clothes, (very possible, they're comfortable), and then get up, putter around the apartment for several hours, then decide to go meet "her man", go for ice cream, take a walk in the same clothes she slept in? Not likely.

This sure does make the theory that she was "taken", (quote from Billy Martin on LKL this week), from her apartment much more likely. Probably in the very early morning hours when there were very few people out and about. 4:00 a.m. scream? It would explain the same clothes being worn by her and the scream and the blanket being on the floor by the door, the missing keys, the very clean apartment, the missing watch, bracelet, any trace of Condit in her life.

No. I have been following the "reorganization" of the FBI. Something is going down....and their planning on keeping the "leaks" out of it.
Remember Hanssen job had been "reorganized" just before they set him up to "catch him in the act"

Is it possible the Saudi is the one connected to the "sex club" ???? Wish Smith could tell all. Maybe someday soon. I still think they'll wait for Christmas. BUT ......
