FReeper Sleuths! Gary Condit and the Mystery of the Chandra Levy Pinky Ring!

"Police believe this missing tiny pinkie ring could be the key to solving the Chandra Levy murder case.

A gift from her mother, Susan in 1998, it was one of the 24-year-old Bureau of Prisons intern's most cherished possessions and her family has said she wore it constantly.

The 14-carat gold ring was bought for $416 and has two diamond chips and the initials "CL" inscribed.

But it was not among the personal items found during the extensive police search of the wooded hillside in Rock Creek Park where Levy's remains were discovered last week, Washington police spokesman Joseph Gentile said yesterday. "

After doing an exhaustive search of my own image archive, I could only find one image where Chandra is shown wearing a ring (below left). This ring happens to be on her ring finger and NOT on her pinky as has been reported in the press. Certainly, it may be a different ring, but it might just be the one described above and pictured below.

In this thread, FReepers brigette and Helen, along with others, were discussing this ring and the ring on Condit's finger found in the photo below . I have also searched my personal news photo archive and simply cannot find another photo of Condit wearing ANY rings..or any ring at all!

Now, some would say that Condit would be insane to wear Chandra's ring, but I say he's a nut, and at this point in the investigation (I believe, August of 2001), a point where he took a little swipe at a photographer, he had this small ring on his finger? And if you were the guilty party and had the ring, what better place to keep it but on your very own finger.

Was this an act of Providence? Coincidence? Maybe both. But either way, I'd like to see, and the police should certainly see, an enlargement of that photo with Condit wearing a tiny little ring on his pinky finger.

So what gives FReepers? Can any of you find an image of Condit where he is wearing a ring on ANY of his fingers?

I'd say that it does look like a signet ring, but I don't see the stones, if they're there, then it's just my eyes.

Okay, okay, I have to jump in here. I am 5 ft. 4 inches and weigh 120 lbs. I wear a size 7 ring on my ring finger. When I weighed 112 lbs. I wore a 6 1/2 on my ring finger. And Gary is a skinny man. I contend that her ring could fit him on his pinky finger. Not if it was a size 4, however, but we have no confirmation of her ring size being a 4. Just trying to show the possible diversity on ring sizes.

My guess is that the photographer used a camera that the resolution is 5 or more megapixels. If he has the original image, he could just look at it. My new camera which is 5 megapixels takes images at 72 dpi, but the photos are original size of about 35"x 25". They are amazing. With my camera, I can take a picture of my cat Fidget sitting in the window, and I can zoom in on the individual squares of the window screen and I can still tell that it is a window screen.

I would try to talk to the photographer.

The photo was taken on July 30th. Condit and his wife were interviewed by the cops 4th of July weekend. Condit cancelled participation in the annual 4th of July parade in Modesto citing the need to return to Washington.

I believe the driver of the red car is Mike Dayton - Condit chief aide in his DC Office.

The last time I saw Dayton at a debate shortly before the primary on March 5th, I suggested he update his resume. :^) Maybe he's the one who turned on Condit re: The Globe. The prospect of his next roommate being called 'Slam' may have been enough to start singing. LOL

Surprised I have not seen comment on the Chief's statement. Would he make it if six months from now the reporters could throw it in his face? I don't buy it.

Condit cornered by disapearence of intern

Three years after Monica Lewinsky America is again gripped by a sexual scandal between a politician and an intern. Since her affair with Congresmember Gary Condit, Chandra Levy is missing. The calls for the resignation of Condits grow louder.

Three and a halve months after the mysterious disappearence of Chandra Lecy (24), Gary Condit stopped bieng silent. Monday he said it was 'terrebly unjust' that some media already scentenced him, while the investigation still is being carried out.

De Democratic Party member of the House reacted to the comments of two newspapers in his state California, the Modesto Bee and the Fresno Bee, that want him to resign. The Modesto Bee accused Condit, who only after three police hearings admitted to having an affair with Levy, of 'repulsive behavior', because he did make false statements during the investigation to disrupt it.

Earlier this month the Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein in California already attacked Condit. In a written statement she said to her party-colleage 'that by refusing to speak up and to be honest towards the public, the publics thrust in politics has been damaged, and because of that his integrity and credebility as Representitive have been washed away'.

Police sees Condit (53), married and father of two children, not yet as a suspect. At first police even did not link him and the disapearence of the young woman. But since it is know that Condit lied twice to the investigators about having an affair with Levy, he is under heavy fire from the media.
