This was my first FR post back in '98 -- in fact, I ran across FR while looking for a good place for this article -- but that thread has long since been devoured by the Troll of Inaccessibility.

Nearly six years later, the church fires disinformation campaign stands as an excellent example of leftist media tactics.

Seems every time I read about the United Methodist Church anymore, they are embracing more and more liberal ideology. I'm about ready to drop UMC and become a Catholic. If my grandmother hadn't been such a rebel and left the Catholic church, I would be one now, I reckon.

The problem is that 95% of the mass media reports Democratic National Committee faxed press releases as breaking news. Fox News and the alternate media like Free Republic provide a balanced news outlet to an amazing small, albeit growing audience of individuals capable of independent thinking.

The the 1996 Church Fire Scare is one of many, many hoaxes and pseudo-crises from the left.

These hoaxes also include day care center abuse and Satanism charges, Alar-poisoned apples, the amazing disappearing (1992-2000) homeless crisis, and the current orchestrated campaign to destroy the Catholic priesthood.

Thank you for the research .... (AS I should have said before, has I read it before.) Which again shows why judicial "repeats" of stories the national news media skip are needed.
