G'day,
Reporting from North Dallas this evening. FReepers Ms.AntiFeminazi, basil, Humidston, Conservative, Gracie, ReJoyce, and Sauropod Counter-Protested the Greenies holding a mock trial of Exxon-Mobil at the University of Texas at Dallas. Also participating were folks from the Texas Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), the American Land Rights Association, the Paragon Foundation, and Nigel Innes's group (Congress on Racial Equality).
After the airline trip from hell (BWI to Dallas) I arrived early this morning and met MAF and some CSE folks for breakfast. I also saw Mike Hardiman and Chuck Cushman from ALRA and Jay Walley (Paragon Foundation). I got to meet Mr. Innis as well.
At 2:00 pm, Mr. Cushman held a protesting tutorial for about 30 people at our hotel. Because the Leftists were holding this mock trial, our group had 6 or 7 kangaroo costumes to make the point that this trial of Exxon-Mobil was a "kangaroo court." Mr. Cushman emphasized to the folks that whatever the LEOs say to do, just do and do not give them a hard time. He emphasized that folks needed to keep their cool no matter how hard they were provoked.
Mike Hardiman asked for Kangaroo "volunteers." I filmed the tutorial and hence did not volunteer to be a "transspeciest" (my term). Besides, tomorrow, there will be another FReep with Alice in Wonderland. Another guy is gonna be Alice, but I was giving him the finer points in female protest dress edicate. I asked him if he needed any kleenex (for his decolletage).
After the tuturial, we proceeded over to the UT Dallas campus. We had the transport vans pull up by the bookstore so the leftists would not know we were coming.
I got film footage of all this. I followed directly behind 5 kangaroos as they headed up the stairs towards the "trial room." At the top of the stairs, we were met by a couple of agressive LEOs that stated that we would not be allowed in the room as the "public meeting" was in fact private. Chuck Cushman tried to persuade and argue past this LEO, but no luck. We asked if the Leftists had rented the hallways outside, and were told no, but that it was against UT Regents' regulations.
We were directed to go outside in front of the building at the "free speech zone." I asked the officer in charge if this meant that there was no free speech except in a designated "zone." and he affirmed that this was the case.
I got all of the confrontation on videotape.
Upon going outside to the sidewalk in front of the building, Mr. Cushman directed the protest having us walk in an elongated oval in front of the building, but not blocking the sidewalk. We did several chants such as "What do we want? Free speech! When do we want it? Now", substituting other things like "more energy" and "ANWR" in place of "free speech" as approprate.
At that point the original University LEOs had called for backup and so there were perhaps half a dozen of them debating on whether to clear us out. Mr. Cushman, as the leader of the protest, dialogued with the LEOs several times, and I got most of this on tape as well. The LEOs kept going back and forth on whether or not we would be allowed to stay and finally determined that we had to leave the campus or be placed under arrest as we were not associated with UT-Dallas.
Finally, Mr. Cushman directed everybody back to the transport bans, but not before obtaining the LEO names and badge numbers.
Jay Walley actually made it inside (by stating that he was a writer for a national news organization [which is true BTW]). He asked questions such as who was outside, and the 6 greenies conducting this mock trial told him that Exxon had hired these crazies (us) to try and provoke violence and shut down their protest. HAW!
A few of the CSE ladies really wanted to go in and attend this trial but were told they could only do so with no signs, no disruptions of any kind, etc.
An associate of Mr. Innis's came out and told us that there were only 6 of the far leftists there. MAF told me that she had done a headcount and counted 45 attendees total.
For once, we outnumbered the Leftists.
Tomorrow is something bigger....
From North Dallas, this is His Royal Podness reporting.

I'm gonna be sick

That is what my character played by Nick Nolte, did in "North Dallas Forty!!"
Are we not all, in a way, writers for an international news organization by merely posting on this forum?
Get them greenies corraled!
Got some names?
If you do, I'll have to respond with the hole_n_one beat-you-in-the-head-until-it's-a-bloody-pulp-shuffle.
