Senator Daschle's year as Senate Majority Leader has been a year of delay and obstruction.

This works for me. The fewer bills, the better. Gridlock is good.

I am currently reading Master Of The Senate about Lyndon B. Johnson. It is a real eye-opener. One thing I have learned is that being a Senate Majority Leader is an almost IMPOSSIBLE task. It takes a special type of person to perform this role. Johnson did but Daschle can't. BTW, one thing that Johnson did was cooperate with Eisenhower. Not that Johnson liked Republicans but it was part of his strategy to work with a popular President. In the end this strategy helped the Democrats. Daschle is doing just the opposite...and the Democrats will suffer for it.

Read that book. Best book ever written about how the Senate REALLY operates.
