Strangulation, which often does not involve fracturing bones or cartilage, would be harder to determine, he said. Utter nonsense. Strangulation often is accompanied by crushed cartilage and sometimes bones in the cervical portion of the throat/neck. Depending on the age of the decomposed remains, the cartilage may or may not still be intact, even if broken. There have been a number of cases where strangulation was determined to be the C.o.D. even if the body was discovered years after death.

Washington's medical examiner, Dr. Jonathan Arden, is trying to determine if the crack in the skull was the cause of her death or contributed to her death, or if it came after the fact, after she was already dead. The skull Arden is examining is not a complete skull.

Garrett in charge? Yikes. I guess that means this case goes the way of Amelia Earhart? I don't suppose he also handled the Ron Brown murder?

Apparently 1700 acres was what the DC cops searched last July for 4 days. 1700 acres of the 2800 acres total in the park. Can anyone verify this? I hear the park is huge, it sounds enormouse.

Get off it. No one would hide a body for a few weeks and then plant it.
And nobody would shave his body and then wear a rubber suit. No way in heck.

This woman's body is rotting above ground in an urban park and several dozen police with dogs can't find it?
Don't discount the possibility (however thin) that her body was dumped after police had finished their search of the park.

Remember... the body could have been put there a couple weeks after they searched and it would still be almost a year laying there I wondered about this when Condit's flight attendant mistress said he told her he was going to have to leave as he might have a problem. Then his brother comes to town, and Condit says next "problem solved." I didn't look up the dates so I am not sure if this overlaps the search in the park or not. It's not entirely inconceivable, and I've researched over 1000 murders and killers.

I wonder if they can check if she was pregnant and who the father was.

Don't people just lose it sometimes and murder because they feel trapped or threatened or angry, etc.? Not just those, but others reap strange "benefits" as well. I'm with you. What about just OJ or Leopold & Loeb?

Where do you think he was on the afternoon she disappeared? If she threatened to expose your League of Gentlemen activities and thereby kill your career, would you find no benefit in her being dead?

Levy was young and atheletic, though petite. It's less likely her bones would ahve snapped during strangulation.

Do you know what combing an area means? Do the DC police? Their specialty isn't the more wooded areas. They excel in combing areas of low vegetation, which better enable low, dramatic, camera angles of rows of academy recruits earnestly searching.

I don't think so, they found 339 "discarded" corpses, and even drained a lake to look for more.
Here is one link to the story.

It was "Quincy, M.E." The "M.E." stood for "Medical Examiner." However, the character had a medical degree.
Quincy used to hang around with "Spenser for Hire," because neither one of them had a first name.
