PAPER: Rock Creek Park Predator Interviewed by Police Investigating Levy Death Thu May 23 2002 12:52:01 ET
D.C. Metropolitan Police Department officials investigating the death of Washington intern Chandra Levy have interviewed a man serving a 10-year prison sentence for attacking two women in Rock Creek Park last year, ROLL CALL DAILY is planning to report on Thursday.

D.C. Metro Police investigators have "talked to" Ingmar Guandeque, who was arrested in July 2001 after attacking two females (one in May and one in July) who were jogging along the Broad Branch trail in Rock Creek Park. Levy's decomposed body was found Wednesday along the Broad Branch trail in a heavily wooded area.
A second official close to the Levy investigation said that while Guandeque was interviewed after Levy's disappearance last year, investigators are now taking a closer look at him since the intern's body was discovered.
"Clearly there are some coincidences and links -- just because of the proximity of where he [committed his crimes]," said a source close to the investigation.
ROLL CALL's Amy Keller reports: Guandeque, who lived on the 1400 block of Somerset Place Northwest, was arrested last summer and sentenced in February 2002 to two concurrent terms of 10 years' imprisonment for a pair of assaults of female joggers in the Broad Branch section of the park.
The first attack occurred in mid-May 2001, at 6:30 p.m., about two weeks after Levy disappeared. In that case, Guandeque came upon an unnamed female jogger, attacking her from behind while brandishing a knife.

LOL Hey, maybe they are trying something new!
But why the Klingle Mansion? It is not very interesting to look at, and the inside is used for storage and park offices, only occasionally is it open to the public for events, and it was locked and closed the entirely of Tuesday May 1.
Seems like they couldn't tell their fanny from a hole in the knap......or something like that........
I have a cartoon on my fridge that has a dog holding a gun on his owners while they are eating...he tells them "Ok, Bucko, I am through begging!", LOL!
He had gained control,he thought, relaxed for a moment, and the both savvy and lucky woman managed to get away. He didn't rape her and then leave her unharmed. She escaped, big BIG difference.
There is no question in my mind that the last victim was going to be killed when he was done, unless she got away from him.
Even Ted Bundy, quite practiced and skilled and luring, sexutally torturing and then murdering women, got scared away and had victims get away . This very young man - still on the rapist/murderer learning curve.
I nominate you to be in charge of ALL things Geragos for the duration we are "sequestered" for this trial. :-)
Thanks for the reminder on the watch, Howlin. Condit was just trying to keep his personal sleazeball life a secret from everyone.
That Anne Marie Smith gal said that condidit was big on disguises.
Perhaps Chandra Levy wasn't running at all, and only wanted to appear as a runner. How much would Chandra stand out if she dressed like a runner and was on a running trail where runners are a dime a dozen?
Perhaps a change of clothes was in the backpack for her flight home, and the sweat pants and sports bra were 'throwaways'.
Does that work? Got a map of all those places?
More telling is that her walkman wasn't taken, suggesting a targeted murder, a serial attacker doing so for thrills, or her stumbling onto a situation(such as a drug deal) that gave someone a reason to risk killing her(perhaps even unintentional, as in a hasty reaction).
Question to all: Why were her remains found over a large area? Results of animals, erosion, or purposeful dismembering?
Only if she was bathing in it, LOL!
Not to Cartesian certitude, but in the real world, it's a 99.9% chance she didn't look it up because she was just going to jog by it. If you can't comprehend this obvious observation, it's a waste of time to try to explain it to you. Suffice it to say that if you were to ask three days ago, "If they find Chandra, what circumstances would make it most likely Condit had her offed," it would be finding her dead with a worn-out makeshift grave near Klingle Mansion.
Look, you're just someone who isn't going to draw obvious inferences. That's your prerogative. Condit should be lucky enough to get you on his jury.
That's my thinking. The question is, who? Condit? His people?
