Bicyclist's screams ignored
SANDPOINT, Idaho -- A bicyclist who fell off a pedestrian bridge clung to its girder and yelled for five hours before he was rescued -- ignored by two boys who walked away laughing, police said.
Christopher Blair apparently tipped over a guardrail on an unlit bridge over Lake Pend Oreille at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
The cyclist managed to scramble to safety on the bridge's concrete piling, and then climbed onto support beams 12 feet above water, where he began to scream for help.
"He said that he had been yelling for help all night and had even been located by two juvenile boys, but they would not help him," Sheriff's Deputy Ben Sterling said in a report filed Tuesday.
A nearby resident finally heard Blair's screams at 2:20 a.m. Sunday. A search by flashlight found Blair perched on the beams, suffering from early signs of hypothermia.
"I could see that he was trembling, he was wet, and he had a very red nose," Sterling said.
Rescuers lowered Blair by basket into a rescue raft and took him to Bonner General Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
not for commercial use
Of course, if he had a "I Love California" sticker on his helmet he'd be lucky the locals didn't shoot him...
Funny how the propagandists never fail to mention when an injured cyclist didn't wear a helmet, but didn't bother to point out that this accident wouldn't have happened if this guy had lights on his bike.
I'd have pissed over the edge and given him a splatter as payback for bad fashion and the traffic rudeness these uniformed clowns subject to those they are supposed to be sharing the roads with.
Couldn't swim? Didn't want to get his perm wet? Psychic blindness? Or just an idiot?
Maybe if you got off your fat azz and actually exercised, you'd have a little more compassion.
Since I didn't see any {sarchasm} tag I'm going to assume your ignorant little diatribe was serious.
re: the "bad fashion". Until you've actually tried bicycling for extended periods of time you won't see the advantages the "bad fashion" suits have for cyclists. I would agree that some of the color schemes are ridiculous but they tend to be a lot more comfortable than riding around in a tee shirt and baggy shorts.
re: the "traffic rudeness". It cuts both ways buster. For every rude cyclist out there there's at least two ignorant motorists who don't know the rules of the road when cyclists are present. I've seen some crazy and rude cyclists in my time but I've seen crazier and ruder motorists.
And it's usually some fat f*ck who couldn't walk a block to the nearest McDonalds for a super-size extra value meal.
>p>Good one, ActionNewsBill...
Technically, you should have written "shouldn't have been riding his bike..."
But coming from a bimbo who probably hasn't gotten out of her car for 20 years, I guess that's appropriate.
What the he!! is it with you people and bicyclists. Are you just that far out of shape that the mere thought of actually doing something physical makes you experience cardiac arrest?
