[history]
No joke: Floridians could elect one or more Libertarians to state office on Nov. 5. A whopping 82 Libertarian Party candidates have filed to run -- mostly for the Florida House of Representatives. "It's a first," says party strategist Mark Eckert, candidate for District 119. And before you accuse him -- or me -- of going bonkers, there are at least two reasons you should take the party seriously.

If anyone is looking for a freedom-loving alternative to the two-party duopoly, the
Libertarian Party is a good place to start.

If anyone is looking for a sure way to insure one party rule by the Democrats then voting Libertarian is the way to go.
No thanks.

If anyone is looking for a sure way to insure one party rule by the Democrats then voting Libertarian is the way to go. The "good cop/bad cop" routine is getting old.
Nominate candidates that uphold the Constitution and honor their oaths of office and you'll have our votes. If not, you can call us names, make fun of us, whatever, just don't ever expect our votes. We're forever through voting for police state candidates.

Sodomy and dope on the march. Time to rejoice.

Do you live in Florida? If not, please mind your own state's business.

Before you start claiming "sodomy" you might want to check your states laws. You very well might be guilty of sodomy.

We're forever through voting for police state candidatesWhich is why you will end up with a suffocating socialist pro-dope, pro-sodomy nanny government.
The socialists are playing you like a cheap fiddle. Some how I don't believe most of you will mind as long as the dope flows more freely when it's all done.

Well, I wish you well.
I suspect that the only places where the Libertarians will win, of course, are in venues where the two major parties field worthless "Liberals." But such wins would be fun to see.

Unlike probably anybody else here, I have the misfortune of knowing Steve Goldstein. If the Liberntine-tarians want to hitch their wagon to this steaming turd's "analysis", so be it.

Why would Libertarians support a Constitution they can't possibly reconcile with their political views? A constitution which allows far too much centralized governmental power according to their views.
For a minute I thought there was some actual victories for the Liberts rather than deluded, wishful thinking as usual.

A lot of hoopla, and much partisanship, in this article, but here's where the rubber hits the road:
winning in seven, minor, nonpartisan races around the state, but still winning. Increasingly, people believe that voting for them is not supporting a lost cause. Eighteen Libertarians have been appointed to citizen boards in eight Florida counties So Florida's got seven libertarians who won elections, but who didn't run as libertarians. Florida has no libertarians who have run and won as libertarians. And Florida has 18 unelected libertarians serving on eight "citizen boards" -- whatever those might be.
IOW, "governing" libertarians number only 25, as compared to thousands of non-libertarians, and none of them wield any significant power.
And how about this: In 2000, they collectively garnered 389,000 votes. Out of how many races, for which offices, and including how many candidates? For instance, if we suppose that 100 libertarians ran throughout the state in 2000, that's fewer than 4,000 votes per candidate -- and considering that only seven libertarians actually won, that 4,000 vote value is probably a top-end.
Ho hum.
This article does not exactly stand as a ringing endorsement of Stephen L. Goldstein's veracity. Indeed, it tends to reinforce the idea that the Libertarian Party will continue to be an electoral non-entity.

Conservatives like Limbaugh and Hannity are complaining about the success that the Democratic party is having getting their agenda in place WHILE THE REPUBLICANS HOLD THE WHITE HOUSE!
If you are gong to tell me that electing Republicans eliminates Democratic party policies, I'm going to tell you how foolish that sounds.

I am with you and I do live in Fl.

Why do you refuse to define "pro-dope" and "pro-drug"?
