Baltimore is again making national news; this time because a young man shot a Roman Catholic priest he says once molested him. The shooting of the Rev. Maurice Blackwell by 26-year-old Dontee Stokes, a barber, appears to have been sparked by all the publicity about the sex scandal eating at the Roman Catholic Church.
A sidebar story in this mornings Baltimore Sun quotes a friend of the gunman relating what he thought was nothing more than a casual remark by Stokes that it was messed up with what these priests are getting away with.
Damon Fisher, was surprised that his mild-mannered friend shot Blackwell. I was in shock, he said. Then I thought that whatever he went through with that priest, he just couldnt take it anymore.
Baltimore police report that Stokes told them he shot the priest because the man rebuffed his demand for an apology over the alleged sexual assaults, said to have taken place nine years ago after bible classes at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in the city.
The refusal of city prosecutors to charge Father Blackwell and his subsequent reinstatement to his West Baltimore parish by Cardinal William H. Keeler is said to have disillusioned Stokes. Furthermore, the immense publicity generated by a flood of sexual abuse allegations against Catholic priests apparently plunged him into deeper despair.
Then, he apparently snapped, shot Blackwell (who is in serious but stable condition as of this writing), and made himself a criminal by taking revenge for being abused. It is a sad, sordid tale, made all the more so for the unwillingness of the media to focus on the true nature of the Catholic sex scandals.
Though almost all the cases that come to light feature sexual contact between men of the collar and adolescent or post-adolescent boys, we are told the problem is one of pedophile priests. That is simply a lie. The great majority of the victims in these cases arent young boys or girls thus the problem is homosexuality, not pedophilia.
As columnist Joe Sobran, a devout Catholic, writes: The news media are in heavy denial about this. They havent reported the real scandal in the Church: the growth of an aggressive homosexual subculture
This has produced, he says, a disproportionately gay priesthood." Yet the media keep putting out the Big Lie: that the blame lies not with aggressive homosexuality, but is the fault of celibacy and Catholic sexual morality.
The truth is the opposite, Sobran says. Catholic authorities in this country have long since ceased enforcing the old rules. Theyve covered up for homosexual priests whove preyed on teenaged boys when they should have been punishing them.
Some of my listeners, unswayed by homophile propaganda, point out how the Boy Scouts have been savaged by the forces of Political Correctness for refusing to allow open homosexuals to be scout leaders. Their critics have been silenced for the moment by the revelations in the Catholic Church scandals, but fair-minded, sensible people should loudly applaud the Boy Scouts for standing firm against the sexual exploitation of their boys by homosexual predators.
Is this the kind of private consensual sexual behavior you were defending?
It's about as private as it is normal.
Right! Ever been to a Gay Pride parade? Their best opportunity to show the world that they're "just like everyone else" and what do we see? The above photo is tame.
My two sons are in Boy Scouts. They are a thousand times safer there than alone with a Catholic priest. Boy Scouts insists that every child in the organization be talked to by his parents about the dangers of homosexual molestation and about predatory priests. Boy Scouts requires that two adults be with kids at all times. And Boy Scouts refuses to allow avowed homosexuals into the organization. This way, any man who makes even the slightest move on a boy is thrown out. - Now, with an enormously high (and unrepresentative) percentage of homosexual priests in the Catholic clergy, the Church should adopt similar policies. Male Catholic teenage boys should be required to have their parents explicitly warn them about homosexual molestation and potential predatory priests. A male priest should never be in the company of a teenage boy unless another (non-priest) is present. And avowed homosexuals in the Catholic clergy should NOT be allowed to ever be alone or in close quarters with a teenage boy.
Whoops. Made a mistake there. Should read: My two sons are in Boy Scouts. They are a thousand times safer there than alone with a Catholic priest. It would lose its appeal...
What evidence can you cite for your prediction regarding what a whole group of people "would" do if the activity which you assert is taking place ("shrieking and waving the Bible") were to stop?
If people would stop "waving the Bible", predatory homosexuals would immediately lose thier attraction for young boys?
Gee, where have you been during this entire crisis? If you had come forward decades ago with your solution, the molestion mess in the Church could have been completely avoided. This trumps even the amazing "let priests get married and they will stop molesting" line of "thought".
