A Sacramento private school has expelled a kindergarten student three weeks before the end of the school year, saying her mother's work as a nude dancer clashes with its Christian philosophy.

Christina Silvas, 24, of Rancho Cordova said one reason she took the job as a dancer at Gold Club Centerfolds off Highway 50 was so she could afford the $400 monthly tuition at Capital Christian School.

A Christian school in Searcy, AR expelled two homosexual students b/c they refused to get counseling for their lifestyle. I have to wonder however, how long will it be before the Feds snatch away their funding/accreditation unless they re-admit them.

THREE WEEKS before the end of the school year?? What is this, the school punishing the kid for the sins of the mother?

They could have waited until the end of the school year, FOR THE LITTLE GIRL'S SAKE. Sheesh. California: it's always either one extreme or the other. No in between.

bump .... have to think about that one as it puts my love of privacy and liberty right up against Christian beliefs.

I'm inclined to side against the school though. Jesus was pretty hard on the institutions of the day.

Your #4 is exactly the path I'd have chosen had I been in charge of the school. Expelling the little girl before the end of school was a poor choice. Of course, had she been nude dancing, it would have been different.

The photo you provided is not sufficient to enable a thinking FReeper to formulate an opinion on this matter...

"I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to tell her," she said.

Now it dawns on her . . .

Rancho Cordova is a suburb on the west side of Sacramento, and just north of what used to be Mather AFB. I think the old AFB is now the commercial airport for Sacramento.

It was also heavily ethnic-asian in the early 1980s, and was locally known as "Rancho Cambodia" back then.

The Capital Christian Center opened back in the early 80's there: I went there when I was stationed at Mather for Navigation school. . . .

This is shameful. For a school to call itself Christian school and act this way is shocking. I hope they change their thinking or stop calling themselves Christians.

He promised that if Silvas quit her job, he and the church would forgive her...

There's someone in the Bible who said, "Only God can forgive sins". Hum.......Yea, Jesus said that.

It's a private school, with a contract between the mom & the school.

It's none of anyone's business.

I'm wondering HOW the school found out? I read rumors started, but HOW? Obviously someone said something, maybe the daughter?

Boy that "Christian" school sure showed that little girl! That will teach her to pick a Mom who strips. She should have played it safe and picked a welfare Mom.....

No one is sure who squealed on the mother. However I'd suggest you all use the link to the other thread. That story gives more detail and what type of assistance was offered to the mother. This is not a clear cut case of expulsion, but does sound more like mom wanting her 15 minutes of fame.

I think I am close to getting in a fight with a Christian school. The principal wants my son's yearbook so he can see what other kids might have written in it. My son says he would rather be expelled. I am not so sure the school can't be sued. Any input from anybody? parsy.
