Bush White House Angered by Secret Clinton-Abdullah Meeting

Monday, May 13, 2002 10:48 a.m.EDT Bush White House Angered by Secret Clinton-Abdullah Meeting

The Bush White House was surprised and angered when it discovered two weeks ago that ex-president Bill Clinton held a secret meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah only hours after members of the royal family met with President Bush and his father in Houston.

"To the dismay of White House planners, [Abdullah] saw an unscheduled and unexpected visitor: Bill Clinton," reported USA Today on Monday - more than two weeks after NewsMax.com became the first news organization to reveal the secret sit-down in print. (See: Clinton in 3-Hour Mystery Meeting with Saudi Prince Abdullah)

The paper notes that the surprise meeting had taken place at "a sensitive moment for the Middle East," during a visit where the Bush administration had taken great pains to "plot every detail of [Abdullah's] weekend trip to Texas."

"The former president, in Houston for a fundraiser and staying at the same posh hotel as the Saudi leader, headed upstairs after midnight for a private chat that had been arranged only a few hours earlier. Their 90-minute meeting didn't end until 2 a.m.," USA Today said.

Actually, according to former top Clinton aide George Stephanopoulos, the Saudi-Clinton get-together lasted much longer - till 4 a.m., according to his little-noticed remarks on ABC's "This Week" the next day.

And just hours before the Stephanopoulos comments, Saudi foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal told Fox News that Abdullah's meeting with the ex-president featured three hours of "serious talks."

White House officials were apparently so embarrassed by Clinton's efforts to upstage President Bush that they refused to respond to NewsMax.com's inquiries about the meeting.

The silence left many concerned that Bush himself had signed off on Clinton's foreign policy meddling at a moment of crisis in the Mideast.

But according to USA Today, the ex-president didn't even have the decency to notify the White House about the high-stakes get-together.

"[Bush] aides express exasperation about Clinton's impromptu session with Abdullah two weeks ago, at a time of delicate negotiations and evolving policy," the paper revealed. "No administration official sat in on the meeting."

Indeed, NewsMax.com confirmed that officials at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, where Abdullah met with Bush senior on Friday, April 26, had no idea that Clinton was scheduled to meet the Saudi prince just hours later.

"I can assure you Clinton was not here on Friday," said Tom Hughes of Texas A & M University, where the Bush library is housed. "We would have covered that if he was."

Even members of the local Houston press queried by NewsMax were unaware of the Clinton-Abdullah mystery meeting.

Remeber, Clinton is trying to become "President of the World" through the UN. He doesnt care about American forign policy, he cares about advanceing worldwide Clintonism. He is harnessing his powers. We may not like him but he is well esteemed worldwide. He is a menace to the free world.

"..for a private chat that had been arranged only a few hours earlier."

The meeting may have been arranged by a few hours, but this meeting was planned by Clinton as soon as he knew where and when Abdullah was meeting Bush.

I don't fault Bush-43 for this being overlooked, but I do think that knucklehead of a father/president, Bush-41 should have something to say about Clinton's behavior. 41 was SILENT all during Clintons administration, it is time for the ol' man to stand up and speak out. (Dream on, Buck)

Brings to mind Clinton's extended farewell at Bush's Inauguration ... the slime ball couldn't just leave unobtrusively, he had to horn in on Bush's big day with a departure that seemed never to end.

Stopped indeed. He should meet the fate of many of his "supporters" and "friends" such as Vinny Foster. Hey no hard feelings, it's just business, right? Forgetaboutit.

Clinton has spent nearly a year and a half acting as though he were president, or above the president, and has been unchallenged by Bush.

GW let the Clintons off without any consequences. Remember John Wang trial happeneing after his inauguration. He had the chance to render some opposition but Wang got a small fine & no testifing against them. There are others but if there were 20 million GW wasn't going after them. I believe because of blackmail. But that is the reason to rid us of any president. Now we are going to have these Clintoons in our faces for the rest of our lives. They won't go away- they have no shame. They are like vanpires & you know how you must irradicate a vampire. They need to be in jumpsuits.

I just hope that Abdullah remembered "right hand: clean, left hand: unclean" and knew to use his left hand when dealing with Clinton.

He wouldn't want to go back to Saudi Arabia with everyone knowing that both his hands were now unclean.

What's al the fuss? This is nothing more than an opportunity for a couple of buddies to get together, smoke a little dope, drink a little bourbon and do a couple (each) of those black hookers that both favor. Sure, Dullah did a little business, delivering a large briefcase of unmarked, large denomination bills to Willie for "services rendered, past, present and future," but, once clear of customs, it would have been delivered to Willie whether they met or not.

No, this is just more Clinton bashing. It had nothing to do with middle east pollicy, just more sex, drugs and corruption.

This is not just a simple - can't stand not to be in the spotlight as ex-pres stance. I am really worried - there is something going on here and I am positive it has to do with getting the Clintons in the White House and the benefit that could have for the Saudis.

Bill Clinton cares only for Bill Clinton as we all know. Bill Clinton will sell anything as we know he sold secrets to China. We cannot allow this man to run our government in any form as he will sell us down the river in a minute - IF HE HAS NOT ALREADY DONE SO.

We learn from history - just be sure we remember Bill Clinton.

This is truly incredible meddling on the part of Clinton. He obviously either doesn't have a clue or he is grubbing for money and/or publicity. I just can not beleive how low this man Clinton (or his wife) will go.

This is truly incredible meddling on the part of Clinton.

It is unprecendented and unprincipled. Our ex-president still acting like an adolescent jerk. I have to believe that GWB has a way to yank on Clinton's chain that will hurt enough to get the message across.

This whole thing is going nowhere unless Bush has the b@ll$ to censure Clinton, complete with a threat that if he does this kind of shenanigans again, he will be arrested.

Clinton does this sort of thing to provoke, and, by cracky, I would be provoked, if I were W.

Of course this is totally illegal.

But again, if Bush is going to be a total doormat for Clinton, then, nothing will happen.

I have a hard time believing anybody is surprised about what William the Impeached does but it is upsetting that he had a meeting with the Prince without clearance from the State Dept.

BTW it was reported about a month ago that Bubba was helping the Saudis draw up a peace plan, maybe bubbas trying to win by going around the current President.
