Ha! ANOTHER fiasco that can be blamed on Kristol! I am telling you people he is a MOLE! ANYTHING he pushes is guaranteed to be destructive!

I am still almost certain that he was instrumental in pushing Jeffords to switch. HE was the one who had the scoop on this when all the Republican leadership were still certain Jeffords was staying on our side. He announced this on Brit Hume's show with a truly nasty grin. After Jeffords switched, it came out that Jeffords had been told that the White House was going to kill the dairy subsidy. That was not true. I will bet I know exactly who told Jeffords that little bit of information in order to push him over the edge.

Bill Kristol is not our friend. I have never forgotten how smug he looked when he told Hume about Jeffords.

Re: Caroline Kennedy. I lost any (and it wasn't much) respect for her when she snubbed Laura Bush at that "do" in NY where they showed the First Lady gowns or some such thing. That was when the BEAST was late arriving and Kennedy made adoring remarks about her from the podium - but snubbed Laura. That was it for me. The Kennedy's are nothing but rich white trash - starting all the way back with father Joe.

As I watched Russert's show this morn, I thought...."This is an indication of how deep is the doo-doo the Rat's are in...." They are reaching back to Nixon and Watergate, to dredge that up again. Woodward talking about yet another pronouncement from John Dean of who exactly "Deep Throat" is? Please!

Geezerette,

Until they introduced Woodward, I also thought that it was Bill Kristol sitting at the infamous roundtable this morning.

Caroline is certainly NO Hillary. She has held herself with a quiet dignity that the Clintons could only dream of

I read the line-up with anticipation (still reading so I haven't gotten to the posts on it yet) as to why CKS would be on Timmy's program. Re CKS having dignity and being no HRH hillary!, this is true, except for that one major diss of the current First Lady and extreme preference for the past "First Lady, hillary," when CKS invited Laura and x42's WINO to attend her show in honor of JBKO's wardrobe (within the last year, I think). That was beyond everything. And it showed her true lack of colors. Of all people, Caroline should recognize the need to honor the current First Lady of the party opposite hers. When CKS went to extreme lengths to discredit, embarrass, and ignore Laura Bush, she showed herself as someone who, if given power by the electorate (God forbid!), would not be a good steward of the well-being of the people.

Can't help but wonder how much Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger has been whispering in Caroline's ear.

Why do you use the name kennedy on your books, rather than Kennedy schlossberg, your married name?
I never actually changed my name. But people call me whatever they call me.

Now there's a weasel talking. Come on Caroline. The married name vanishsed from your book by act of public will?

To the scary part:

Would you ever run for office?
I don't have any plans to do that right now. As I said, I don't plan ahead. My kids are young, and I'm really happy to be able to be around. But I do care about issues, and I'm interested in them. So I don't see that now, but you know, I have a long life ahead of me.

That is hillary-speak.

A very weak line up, but Fox provided the best with its roundtable.

First, however, Caroline K-S's new book (an update on her fathers Profiles in Courage) was featured in her discussion on MTP. However, those individuals are all out of the libs playbook: Kofi Aman (sp.) UN chief, McCain and Feingold (because of CFR), and a mayor in the Midwest who supported a Muslim mosque (pre 9/11) in his town and took flack from the townfolk and then got sued by the Muslims for his efforts. Also on that show was a likeable Jordanian King Abudlah (sp., whatever) who tried to walk a fine line about the Palestinians, but couldn't quite call Arafat a terrorist (sounded like he was closer to it than Bush is). His wife was shown in Western dress leading a pro-Palestinian rally. He carefully challenged a Timmy statistic about 60-70% percent of the population being Palestinian, but said they are from the same people.

Back to Fox, the roundtable (now a more appropriate name because a table prevents us from seeing Mara's ankles), got bogged down in the Arab-Israeli discussion with Juan saying Israel has to give up the settlements to stop the bombing. Brit went after him saying it should be the other way around -- you do not make concessions in an environment where the sword rules. Arafat or whoever is in charge should show they want something else other than violence, and then Israel can negoiate. BTW, everyone agreed that Arafat is becoming more and more irrelevant to this problem, and may survive only as a figurehead, provided he hasn't already executed anyone who might challenge his power.

Bill Kristol talked about his Murphy Brown speechwriting for Dan Quayle ten years ago, and the furor it created. Juan then said something really surprising -- he agreed with Quayle that a single parent family is usually a recipe for problems, especially in the Black community where there is a lack of good male role models!

Jane, I'm so glad you saw that Bill Kristol - Murphy Brown - Dan Quayle - info above. This certainly adds weight to the stash of cannon balls on the field of battle against Billy the Kid.

BTW, part of Timmy's time with the king was devoted to his recreational pursuits -- travel, fast motorcycles, scuba diving and even a part on Star Trek Voyager a couple of years ago. As I said above, he's likeable, and certainly more modern and Western-oriented than the Saudi's. However, he's in a tough position being on the divide between the western and Arab world and trying to lead a people that are not as westernized as he is.

Juan saying Israel has to give up the settlements to stop the bombing. Brit went after him saying it should be the other way around -- you do not make concessions in an environment where the sword rules.

Sounds like Brit was raised with a father's healthy influence and Juan was raised with a mother's influence dominant.

Whatever their early years were like, those two approaches sum up the vast differences in how Brit attacks and Juan flees from threat, danger, and challenges.

Don't know about that, but there is certainly on-air friction between those two and it is always a highlight to see Brit take Juan to the woodshed each week. However, I will say this for those on Fox (including Juan), they still have flag lapel pins on whereas those on the other shows have abandoned them or may wear them only occasionally.

She does seem to be very intelligent and I believe she is what we would call a good person (let's face it, there are one or two good dems out there). Her family life seems to be stable, otherwise we would be reading about it in the tabloids.

For whatever reason she allows herself to be uded. Maybe it is the price for having a father who said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Uncle Teddy said, "But Caroline, the country needs your help!"

BTW....."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" seems to be the antithesis of the dems these days. If a pol spoke those words today, I wonder how far right he would be labeled.

I rarely watch. It is nothing more than an excercise in "I'm gonna tell America what you did!" "Did not!" "Did too!" Followed by both parties sticking out their tongues. It ends when the GOP hauls ass when the bully dems say "I will beat you up if you don't let us have our way!"

The moderators, who should be the adults of the conversation, are too busy worried about ratings to insist upon a serious discussion of the issues.

But of course, no mention of Bush inviting them to the White House to see the movie about the Cuban crisis ... and the fact that the President, himself, cooked hamburgers for them.
