[history]
A hundred medical professionals spent a last hour with their families in Coraopolis yesterday morning before hoisting duffle bags and boarding buses for a destination unknown.
Their status as reservists of the 339th Combat Support Hospital had suddenly shifted their lives when they were called up this week.

3000 members of the 28th special desert warfare navy unit were recalled from their air superiority fighter training to participate in a secret mobilization of all able bodied arabic speaking military personnel.
Just thought it would be nice to include some disinformation.

That was my thought too. If there is possible/probable bio terror around the corner, they need this call up. Or maybe something already is popping.

San Antonio Express NewsExcerpt:
"The last Texas National Guardsmen patrolling San Antonio International Airport will be released from duty today after providing an armed security presence for seven months. And across the country, National Guard soldiers who were stationed at airports within weeks after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will be gone by the end of this month."

Just thought it would be nice to include some disinformation. I know a guy whose cousin's neighbor's son-in-law knew a guy who said that all Farsi speaking Saddam look-a-likes have been asked to report to the bus station and to bring their sunglasses.

I divulge nothing that isn't in the newspaper or on TV. I do know more do to the nature of my employment, but I want to keep my job and win this war. It is hard to keep some of these things under wraps considering the nature of our FR community, especially when the uninformed make guesses that compromise national security. One wants to tell them to shut up, but it would only confirm the truth.

NATIONAL GUARD AND RESERVE MOBILIZED AS OF MAY 8 This week the Army announces an increase of 1,084 reservists on active duty in support of the partial mobilization. The Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps each announce decreases of reservists on active duty. The net collective result is 506 more reservists than last week.
At any given time, services may mobilize some units and individuals while demobilizing others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease. Total number currently on active duty in support of the partial mobilization for the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 29,097; Naval Reserve, 9,396; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 37,207; Marine Corps Reserve, 4,317; and the Coast Guard Reserve 1,724. This brings the total Reserve and National Guard on active duty to 81,741 including both units and individual augmentees.

Suffice to say that even without the news coverage (of the reservist call-ups), it is obvious that something major is going to happen. It has been infuriating in recent weeks to hear the soft language uttered by our president and his administration in recent weeks regarding the terrorists and the apparent attempts to appease the terrorists over there (i.e. Colin Powell's visit). But Bush would not be acting this way if he didn't have something huge up his sleeve. In a few months, we are going to forget all about this "phoney war" going on right now. Our actions in Afghanistan were just a warm-up. Nobody hijacks four of our planes, knocks over two of our skyscrapers, and plows into our Pentagon and gets away with it. Nobody. There is a terrible price yet to be paid for this. We have only been biding our time and waiting until the time is right. Those bastards are going to pay.

Please, Freepers, remember before you post that loose lips may sink ships. Already we've had to remove several posts on this thread. Thank you.

The Colorado National Guard is ending its airport mission today. Governor Owens is leading a ceremony at Denver International Airport today to thank them for their service.

Godspeed to all service men and women for swift victory and safe return, whatever the mission.

Time to sing our favorite Iraqi dictator a lullaby.

The story was widely publicized on radio, TV and the newspapers, it was one of the main stories yesterday in this area, so it is not like it is some huge secret or something. Good grief...

I think the "Soft Talk" lately has been a part of a "Tidal Wave" strategy...ever see a tidal wave? First the entire bay drains, all the water withdraws, and the all the water rushes back in a 30-50 foot high devastating wave...Like our rhetoric against Saddam softening the last couple of weeks, and then Whammo!
I too think Afghanistan was just the practice run to get our troops ready.
