The comparison to the Clinton takeover is not inapposite. It doesn't matter how the Clintoons came to power; the point is that they did, despite the fact that a large number of Americans abhorred them. (It was a "His-and-Hers" presidency, as we all know.) Many Americans mourned daily, and became pysically ill, because of what was inhabiting the Oval Office. I don't want to be verbally tossed into a huge cesspool of Bubba-Lovers, and I doubt that many here at FR would either.
That is the point.
If you must continue with your ABBA-bashing; I am well aware that they are not of same calibre as a large number of music talents (comparing them to the Berliner Philharmoniker?!) (check your spelling), but they made an impact and they made a fortune. So they performed "feel good" music -- not a thing wrong with that.
What credentials do you have to judge them and their music? Just curious. Opinions are like -- well, no need to finish that little gem. Do you have a musical performance background? A degree in music or music business? I just like to know who my verbal sparring partner is, you understand.
Tack sa myckett,
Sharon

What is insulting to me about this article is that it immediately jumps on the notion of "Oh, boo hoo, we are poorer than
blacks in America!" What the heck is all that about?!
Of course, the Swedes (and I like their cars, dammit!) convienently ignore other statistics that show that if black America were it's own nation, the GNP would be the tenth largest on the planet.
To hear this group tell it, Swedish households are no better off than the deepest, darkest reaches of Mississippi!

I'll take living in Stockholm over Gary, Indiana any day.....Sorry - I grew up in Gary, and while it isn't the be-all, end-all of life (I certainly am not proud of everything going on there - ask me one day to tell you about politics there and why I refused to run for City Council there), there are definitely worse places in the US to be from and to have lived in.
That being said, Stockholm sounds like a pretty nice place...

How is it that you "know" the country? Live there? Formerly live there? (Tons of Swedish immigrants settled in Virginia, I know!) Work there? All of these experts on Sweden coming out of the woodwork is amazing!
If you do know the country, it doesn't necessarily mean you know the Swedish people -- your "average Lars," so to speak. Please -- I'm fascinated; more detail please?!
Tack sa myckett!

Poor Sweden......I knew this 10 years ago when I visited with my family. The "poor" young Swedish girls could not afford undies....no Bra and often no panties. It was terrible! I often engaged in conversation with these poor girls to better understand their plight.

Doesn't Gary have one of the highest murder rates in the nation? Of course I live in Baltimore, so life in Gary would be about the same.

Doesn't Gary have one of the highest murder rates in the nation?Percentage-wise? Yes. Gary is on par with Miami, New Orleans, Baltimore, Oakland and a number of other larger urban areas. It is down over the last few years, however.
The crime rate there is still something that keeps the local constabulary busy. My brother gets to play with the felons regularly. He heads up the probation department for the city. He tells me that while the rate of gang crime is still up there (as compared to when we were younger), it is on the decline there, simply because the gangbangers are moving on to other areas.

You're right....My mistake.

Good that there has been some progress, its been reported that Baltimore's crime rate has improved over the past few years. I fail to see it, I think the numbers are being fudged or some crimes are just not being recorded.
I always get kick out of how New York City is generalized as such a dangerous place. I'll take Manhattan and most areas of Brooklyn and Queens before downtown Baltimore any day.

It's the best of both worlds - we have the wealth, so we import tall Nordic blondes with guns, where the Swedes have a comparative advantage in production. And we're rich in every other way, so we're attractive to tall Nordic blondes ;)

If Sweden were a U.S. state, it would be the poorest measured by household gross income before taxes, Bergstrom and Gidehag said. I just imagine Sweden being a US state and comparing unfavorably with Arkansas and Mississippi.
LOL. I can't even really comment on this, just laugh. I'm still laughing.
