LYNN CHENEY: EMBARRASSMENT OVER OZZY FUSS AT WHITE HOUSE DINNER
**Exclusive**
VP wife Lynn Cheney told associates she was "embarrassed" by the commotion surrounding thrash rocker/MTV star Ozzy Osbourne's appearance at this weekend White House Correspondence Dinner in Washington.
"He's hardly someone we should be applauding... not a role model, I am rather embarrassed," Cheney said after the dinner, according to sources.
Osbourne's presence at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night cause a complete sensation. The rocker's Tuesday show on MTV has become one of the most-watched shows on the air among teens.
Cheney has been an outspoken critic of rock and rap lyrics marketed to youth.
Last year Cheney took on rapper Eminem, calling his music "the most extreme example of rock lyrics used to demean women, rock lyrics used to advocate violence against women."
"The thing about Ozzy is, he's made a lot of big hit recordings: "Party With the Animals," "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath," "Face in Hell," "Black Skies'' and "Bloodbath in Paradise,'' President Bush joked in his speech before the association.
Osbourne lyrics include from "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath": "God knows as your dog knows; blast all of you. Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath, nothing more to do. Living just for dying, dying just for you."
In the 1983 song, Bark at the Moon, Osbourne recited : "Howling in shadows Living in a lunar spell He finds his heaven Spewing from the mouth of hell."

I love your choice of "keywords" on your post! We should all make a Free Republic appointment to do a live thread this Tuesday night while "The Osbournes" is airing. I haven't gotten such a chuckle out of hubbub at FR since AYBABTU.

Ozzy's nothing but more celebrity trash. Lynn's right. He's an embarrassment. I wonder if his hot wife is doing somebody who can actually perform the act, now that Ozzy appears to be about 90% disabled. So what was he doing at a "correspondents'" dinner, anyway? Oh, I forgot...everybody's a "journalist" now.

Bush is selling out to decadence on this one. Yeah, right. Bubba-2 has sold out to the Dims, the Chinese, and the Mexicans since he has been president,PLUS done nothing but increase the size and power of gooberment. Yet,you want to complain about him being at a dinner with a over-the-hill rock star who is a rehab graduate?

So what was he doing at a "correspondents'" dinner, anyway? He was invited by Greta Van Susteran (sp?) from FoxNews. She probably figured it would be good publicity. Besides, the place was crawling with celebrities and Hollywood people: Christie Brinkley, Harrison Ford, Glenn Close, etc. Pretty wierd if you ask me but they all like to hobnob no matter what the venue.
And the story about Ozzy going to the White House was hogwash.
All I kept thinking while I was watching it was "thank God, I'm not there." Criminy, they sure crowded them in there. Looked like a bunch of cattle.

well there is a ? mark after Denzel, because what I read about him was someone said he seemed to be unable to make up his mind which side he was on - apparently he has made comments both ways.
Maybe he shouldn't be on that list - I'm not sure about those with ? marks but just hopeful.

Yeah, I read he was Greta's guest. Of course, she isn't a "White House correspondent", either. They should just change the name to Media/Entertainment/Celebrity Dinner.
By the way, although it wasn't at the White House, Ozzy actually thought he was at the WH!

I agree with Lynn and you, he is no role model, and that show sounds like trash. But Bush didn't invite him, and is just being diplomatic. He made a joke about Hillary, too, but he certainly doesn't endorse her or her lifestyle. Think of the media trashing Bush would be given if he publicly shunned Ozzie. Sure, we might like that, but it would be misrepresented by the media. Some things aren't worth it, Bush believes you have to pick and choose where to take a stand and what to let go. Perhaps if out control of Congress were not so tenuous, he would might act differently.
BTW, why don't you use your pull and get MTV to yank the show? And whatever happened to the astonaut?
To: kcpopps
Nope; that was yet another "misstatement" from the British papers.

I see some of you have never actually seen "The Osbornes". If you have watched the show, you would have seen when Ozzy was talking to his son about doing drugs. He told his son to look at him, drugs can only do harm. Get the stick out of your arses, it's only entertainment.
To: shaggy eel
I can teach you how to do that.
1) Drink one fifth of Jack Daniels
2) Smoke 4 joints
Repeat daily for 15 years.
To: just looking
I need closed captioning to watch the show. I'm not deaf, but they speak some foreign language, not unlike the one in which SevenofNine writes.
