I was listening to a replay audio of Rush today citing the latest Zogby poll showing GWB at 69%. Rush was lamenting that Bush's #'s have "plummeted" from 80%. Now would some kind poll minde Freeper please tell me when did Zogby have Bush over 80%? Rush was trying to correlate these #'s to Bush's recent action as per Isreal (a bit of a stretch, if you ask me!). Especially when other polls have shown no such cataclysmic erosion of support. ABC/Wash Post had W at 79%. Zogby, if memory serves me has had Bush "plummeting" for several months now from 75%, 72%, yadda yadda yadda. Am I wrong? Please let me know.
Personaly, I think Rush has dug in in his rant at Bush and Powell and will grasp at anything to have W see thing his way.

Zogby was wrong. I can't find the one where he has Bush at 69 -- it's on here somewhere, but here is the one Rush may be talking about.
Bush at 82% according to Zogby

Polls are for Clinton's crowd.

Zogby`s brother is the head of an American-Arab lobbying group. As to RUSH, I`m about to start lisening to country music. He is constantly dising GWB about just about everything. I almost broke a finger hitting the radio dial after Rush called Powell a coward. I may not always agree with the Sec. of State, but he`s no coward and Rush is wrong to say that. Rush is totally gone native in reguards to Israel to such a point that he`s becoming a bore. Never thought I`d say that about him.

FYI! Rush incorrectly interpreted the results of Zogby's poll -- he obviously wanted to advance a particular (nefarious?!) agenda. Posted by DrDeb to abigailb On News/Activism Apr 23 7:13 PM #88 of 89 I just reviewed Zogby's polling results. First, you must understand that Zogby uses an excellent, good, fair, poor reporting schema that differs dramatically from the standard approve/disapprove schema. To correlate Zogby's numbers with an approve/disapprove schema, you must combine the n's for excellent and good with 1/2 of the n's for fair. Bottomline: Zogby's polling results indicate that President Bush still enjoys a 79% approval rating. This rating is statistically consistent with results from the Washington Post/ABC News poll also released today. The Post (whose polling coordinator is EXCELLENT) determined that President Bush enjoys a 78% approval rating -- unchanged in the last month!! Poll results: www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/raticles/A30757-2002Apr22html. NOTE: According to another FR poster, Gallup completed a poll during the same time period which indicated that President Bush enjoys a 76% approval rating (a 1 point increase over the previous week)! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unless of course they support everything Dubya does, then the 'Bots start shivering with pre-orgasmic delight.
Funny, prior to 9/11, when Dubya's poll #s were only in the high 40s, I was hearing that "Oh polls don't matter". Yet, funny, when olZog said they were at 80%, wow suddenly the tune changed.
I guess we're back to "Oh polls don't matter".
Ah, consistency, what a concept.

Total BS.

I almost broke a finger hitting the radio dial after Rush called Powell a coward.Same here. I hadn't been listening to Rush much since he started Bush-bashing, but that comment did it. What's next? Is he going to call Condi a bimbo?
I won't be there to hear it.
To: speekinout
An ex listener ( there must be quite a few of us) told me that Rush feels he must compete with the WH. At one time, Rush was the bigest draw on the conservative circuit and he has been replaced by GW. But, instead of yielding gracefully, like a gentleman, Rush has apparently made it his life's mission to damage GW. Never mind Bush's numbers-let's see Rush's Arbitron numbers.
To: Lord_Baltar
Since Clintoon, I have always thought polls were crap.
To: Wild Irish Rogue
Rush has apparently made it his life's mission to damage GW.I've heard Rush get militant on issues where he didn't know what he was talking about before, but this is one that I won't listen to.
It will be interesting to see the Arbitron ratings. I think it will show that GW's support is far more intense than Rush ever thought!

Freepers:
One has to realize the international realtions, diplomacy, and politics in general is a chess game. To win you have to have your pieces in place to declare "check mate". One does not win by simply knocking over the opponents pieces and declaring victory. We may have the ability to do so but unfortunately the world does not revolve around the US. The Bush Doctrine is, in my opinion, still in full force. Rush, as many in this forum, want to believe that because a few retorical pawns have been sacrificed, that GWB has lost his way. I still believe that Tony Blankly and Andrew Sullivan had it right. Bush is playing a gambit. The opponent is Sadam Hussien. Maybe, the Saudi's are not biting at Bush being ineffectual at dealing with Isreal. but it was worth a try. More than anything it will give us ammo to get a UN resolution to sanction us in our operations in Iraq (like we need it, or want it but makes the Eurotrash happy)
Rush, obviously hates the diplomacy games, but reality says that diplomacy must play out prior to ligatamate war.
Yea I know that we were the first attacked on 9/11, but the bilge of humanity in the rest of the world could care less of 9/11 and still needs to be brought on board.

You'll notice TBL, I'm not disagreeing with you, I just find it very fasinating when Folks around here get themselves all atwitter when the left-wing nut says Dubya's poll numbers are way high, are usually the EXACT same people who seem very quick to discount poll numbers, from the exact same left-wing nut, when they say anything but what they want them to say.
All I implied was there seems to be a bit of a consistency problem when considering those polls, up or down.
To: RasterMaster
I agree, and in that, you are being consistent

What's BS Howlin? The fact that a few months ago every post praising Dubya was replete with chants about how his poll numbers were in the 80s? Or that now that those numbers seem to be taking a hit, we're hearing "Polls don't matter" again? I remember, very clearly around here, all the "Polls don't Matter" comments, pre-9/11.
The BS Howlin is using polls as some kind of accurate barometer when they say what you want them to say, then running from them when they don't. It's called consistency.
Quite frankly, I think anyone can skew a poll, one way or another. The 'Toon freaks did it all the time, which was justly derided around here as the patent BS it was.
