Because everything he has done is either stolen or swindled. Really?
I wonder why he hasn't been indicted and thrown in jail?
This all sounds like typical class envy rhetoric.

I have to use all my fingers and toes to tell you about the co-workers and students who have lost everything during a Mac freeze-up. Since I loaded XP on my computer in December, I haven't had a single freeze-up. You want to switch to a Mac? Sayonara. Thank you. I have WindowsXP and love it.
And obviously the public loves Microsoft enough to make Bill Gates the richest man in the world.
I admire him for being a genuine example of the American dream come true.

I completely agree with you-- Bill Gates is an entrepreneur who made it BIG. He has lived the American Cream. I think some people are jealous.

Cream = Dream (Please, please forgive me. That C wasn't there when I edited-- really. There's a gremlin in there somewhere.)

Let me tell you what I do. I have two computers which I basically just put together myself from parts gotten at MarketPro shows, about $700 or thereabouts for a reasonably state-of-art computer. The machine facing the internet runs RedHat 7.2, largely to avoid viruses and cybernetic mayhem (the software that kind of stuff targets simply isn't there). The other computer runs Win2000 for anything I need in the way of windows specific software, and figures to be phased out over about the next two years. With the next version of RedHat LINUX due shortly to implement the new version (3.0) of KDE and with improving windows emulation software for LINUX, nobody should need anything from msoft much longer.

APPLE ALL THE WAY! (althought I really don't think Steve Jobs is all that much better as a humen being)

I'm not telling you to boycott Microsoft, although it's not entirely a bad idea; I'm just pointing out that Bill Gates is not the conservative hero many here seem to think he is.
He's more like the tech world's version of Bill Clinton. Dishonest, liberal and creepy.

ROFL...forgot about that!

Gates was a non-political nerd, turned ruthless but effective business man. Before the Clinton DOJ shakedown, he had one lobbiest in Washington. After the shakedown, he now has the biggest lobbying effort ever. He will do anything to preserve his company and his dominance. I do not believe he ever considered political conservative/liberal ideologic. Once the attack was on he did and does whatever he thinks will stop it. He would have a picture taken with him kissing satans ass or hugging Stalin, if he thought it would quell the assault. IMHO.

pictures don't look authentic to me. Am I wrong? Look at the hands there. One picture jackson is to big next to Bill. I don't trust this post. Am I wrong???

All the iMacs have been doing extremely well in the retail market since they were first introduced. Recent polls (not by Apple) have shown that a very sizable percentage of business computer users are not averse to going Mac. Only 5% showed a die-hard "never anything but PC" commitment. The users wouldn't mind going to a Mac, but the problem is that the software isn't there. Sure, there's some business software available for Macs, but it's generally small business software, and limited to general purpose. Most businesses now run on Wintel software.
Like Linux, maybe if more software gets ported over to the Mac, it will be ready to do battle with Micro$oft.

There are hardly any blacks in the computer industry, the whole thing is ripe for Jesse's boycott-shakedown and everybody in it knows it. Bill's just being smart and buying off Jesse before the threats, MS has always been a big contributor to Jesse's things. That's why a company that MAYBE has blacks as 1% of it's employees (maybe, I've worked with around 200 people in 2 software companies the last 7 years and only 1 was black... tons of Indians though) has managed to avoid being on Jesse's boycott list. Bill knows the piper always gets his due and has chosen to pay early and often rather than late and dearly.

I've never known just exactly what it is that people don't like about Bill Gates. Just jealousy or envy. He made business HAPPEN since 1983. There isn't one person alive that can say (in all seriousness) that there is no correlation between the massive business boom since the early 80's and the entry of MS Windows into the computing world.
There's not one executive alive ANYWHERE that doesn't know what a powerpoint presentation is. 99 out of 100 people would know what Microsoft Word is.

Really? Interesting. Must be geography. I know more black programmers than whites or any other skin tone.

Interesting. When I was first getting into the industry there were a few studies going around trying to answer the two big quandries: where are the blacks, and where are the women. The women one was actually the one people were more concerned with because there was a solid percentage of women graduating college with computer related degrees (30 or 40 I forget) and only about 1/10 of that percentage actually in the industry.
Blacks (and hispanics) was another question, there weren't a lot showing even the smallest interest in computers. Around that time was when they were throwing all these computers in the minority schools and finding out the kids just didn't care.
Maybe you're just in a heavy exception zone.
Anyway, I still think all Bill is doing is bribing the boycott away. Of course he is for the estate tax so who knows.
