The head of the US episcopal conference Wilton Daniel Gregory said there was an ongoing struggle within the Catholic Church to ensure that the priesthood is not "dominated by homosexual men".
Gregory and Chicago Archbishop, Cardinal Francis George, told reporters that the issue of homosexual priests had been discussed in a solemn morning meeting between Pope John Paul II and US cardinals on the issue of paedophile priests.
"It is an ongoing struggle. It is most importantly a struggle to make sure that the Catholic priesthood is not dominated by homosexual men," Gregory told a news conference after the first session of talks which are to last until Wednesday.
"Not only that it is not dominated by homosexual men, but that the candidates we receive are healthy in every possible way, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually."
"That is the ongoing concern of seminaries."
"Hey, you with the earrings!"
And then he actually pointed out that one of the molesters was associated with "Dignity."
I was ROTFL.
One of those darn Libertarians. Oh, yeah, an atheist too. Makes me real popular around here, ehy? ha ha. Well, just don't try to jam secular or religious socialism down my throat (via the state) and we'll get along just fine. :-)
And what about Homophobes?
You use this word a lot. Most FReepers are conservatives. They generally do not use this pejorative word. On another thread, you attacked and belittled pro-lifers. You are a self professed atheist and libertarian, you use liberal phraseology, and call conservatives homophobes.
Thus, I also suspect your orientation and your overall agenda here on FR.
Are you gay?
I don't expect an honest answer but you spew your homosexual and pro-abort agenda all over this "Conservative News Forum" and your propaganda fits the gay mold.
Feel free to call me a judgemental religionist homophobe...
As hard as it may be for you to understand and believe, there are many conservatives who are not of your religious beliefs. SHOCKING!!!!
I know a "gay" man , he told me he wasn't gay until he entered a monastery as a teen to study to be a priest.
Oh? I though the party line was that homosexuality is genetic, like having brown skin? Are you admitting that you guys need to recruit?
Actually, I am tolerant of pro-life beliefs -- I just disagree with them. However they, such as yourself, claim medical issues which aren't evident in the statistics. For instance I pointed out a couple of studies which debunked your abortion-breast cancer link. In another I showed that there doesn't seem to be a correlation between the introduction of legal abortion and female suicide ratios (there was an increase, but the male suicide increase was greater, pointing to societal rather than physical causes.)
That's debunking, not belittling.
"Conservatism" needs definition on a forum like this:
Main Entry: con·ser·va·tism
Pronunciation: k&n-'s&r-v&-"ti-z&m
Function: noun
Date: 1835
1 capitalized a : the principles and policies of a Conservative party b : the Conservative party
2 a : disposition in politics to preserve what is established b : a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change
3 : the tendency to prefer an existing or traditional situation to change
A political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions in America is, by definition, based on Judeo-Christian tradition and social stability.
Therefore, I do not shy away from calling those self proclaimed conservatives here on FreeRepublic.com "A Conservative News Forum" back to the very roots of that "Conservatism, " namely Judeo-Christian principles and belief. Christianity is integral to the continuance of Conservatism in America and thus The Necessity for Christianity on Free Republic.
I call homophobes homophobes. The word is in the dictionary and it has a specific meaning. Look it up.
Don't ask, don't tell?
Geez, even Bill Buckley realized 40 years ago that religionists would have to welcome non-religionists into the limited government cause.
That is, after all, what "conservatism" used to be -- small government -- let people free to do as they wished. It is socialism that has the grand plan for everybody. Unfortunately "cultural conservatism" is sort of a religious socialism come to hijack political conservatism.
Nonsense. A couple of studies does not debunk the fact that 28 of 37 studies to date show a positive correlation. Your estimation of your debunking ability is not objective.
In another I showed that there doesn't seem to be a correlation between the introduction of legal abortion and female suicide ratios (there was an increase, but the male suicide increase was greater, pointing to societal rather than physical causes.)
More nonsense. Read the overall statistics. And stop pulling out exceptions in an attempt to disprove the rule. Your employment of equivocal language (seems) tells us you know you're being disingenuous simply to try to win a point of debate. Typical atheist.
That's debunking, not belittling.
Its your story, you tell it as you like it.
Oh, by the way, are you gay?
Well, you don't want to do that. The overal suicide rate for women in now lower than it was in 1950. You really really don't want to do that!
And how does your braying with the jaw bone of a Stone Age ass, not fit your agenda?
One entry found for homophobia.
Sorry, I am guilty of neither irrational fear of, aversion to, nor discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.
But as a doc, I do know certain facts that those pushing the homosexual agenda would rather were not made public:
Homosexual behavior increases risk of AIDS - Dr. Brian J. Kopp, DPM
Published by Centre Daily Times, Friday, June 2, 2000
Homosexual behavior increases risk of AIDSby Brian J. Kopp, DPM Parental warning: The following "My View" contains graphic medical terminology about sexual activities that may not be suitable for younger readers. AIDS research by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported that the typical homosexual interviewed claimed to have had more than 500 different sexual partners in a lifetime. Considered by themselves, the AIDS victims in this study averaged more than 1,100 lifetime sexual partners. Some reported as many as 20,000. Studies reported by A-P. Bell, M.S. Weinberg and S.K. Hammersmith in the book "Sexual Preference" (Bloomington, Indiana University Press, 1981) indicated that only 3 percent of homosexuals had fewer than 10 lifetime sexual partners. Only about 2 percent could be classified as either monogamous or semi-monogamous (from "Homosexuality and Civil Rights," Tony Marco, 1992). To the present time, 75 to 85 percent of AIDS cases reported are related to homosexual activity, promiscuous heterosexual sex and IV drug abuse. AIDS stubbornly refuses to spread into the population in general, even 20 years after its discovery, despite dire warnings to the contrary. These diseases are acquired directly through the sexual behavior homosexual activists are asking Americans to legally endorse and protect. Yet, as professor Jerome Lejeune of Descartes University, Paris, says of AIDS: "Only God can truly pardon the one who violates His laws; man pardons at times; Nature never pardons at all: She is not a person." The brutal consequences of attempting to break the natural law are not bigoted or hateful, nor are those, like Dr. Laura, Cal Thomas or Gary Morella, who try to point out the dangers and simple truths. We are seeing the natural consequences of violating nature's laws now. They are also a warning to prevent the ultimate eternal consequences. How many will ignore that warning and continue to call the messenger a bigot and continue to shake their fist at God? How many will heed that warning of a loving Father, ready to forgive and reconcile His prodigal children? |
