RENO LAWSUIT ON ELIAN TO BE DECIDED BY 11TH CIRCUIT
Time: 9:00 AM
Date: Tuesday, April 23, 2002
Location: 12th Floor Courtroom
Federal Justice Building
99 NE 4th Street
Miami, FL
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, said today that Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman will present oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in the 12th Floor Courtroom of the Federal Justice Building in Miami, FL.
In a lower court decision, Judicial Watch had won the right to sue former Attorney General Janet Reno personally for her role in the forced removal of Elian Gonzalez from his former home in Miamis Little Havana, in order to send him back to Cuba. Plaintiffs, citizens of South Florida who were gassed and beaten, have sued Reno for civil rights violations. Janet Reno is seeking a reversal of the lower courts ruling.
Incredibly, now the Bush/Ashcroft Justice Department is defending Janet Reno in an illegal raid that saw dozens of peaceful innocents beaten and gassed, stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

?Incredibly, now the Bush/Ashcroft Justice Department is defending Janet Reno This is an odd thing that I see often. Someone is an accuser of the person in power. Then, when the someone gets into power, they go to defending their predecessor.
Either The Who were right when they said the new boss was the same as the old boss, or actually taking the reigns of power gives you a new perspective on what's going on.
Shalom.

The Attorney General will always defend the Justice Department, whether or not there has been a change in Administration. That's their job.

Is JW exagerating claiming dozens were beaten? As far as I know only two were physically roughed up, 2 NBC camera guys.

I don't know.I suppose anyone who got in any SWAT teams way was delt with abruptly as they had one mission. Weren't there lots of people trying to block the house Elian was in? Did you see them nicely 'moved aside'? Or was it media reported that only reporters were roughed up?
To: ironman
JW, exaggerating? Of course they are.

Where is Clinton, I thought he was going to stage a coup and remain in power??

Are they really? Or are you not pleased with them because they aren't republican, President Bush campaigners, and they file lawsuits against any thing they see unjustified; not just any politico or non conservative cause? Is
this not pleasing to you, so there for it is easy to say Judicial Watch exaggerates?
I could care less one way or another about Judicial Watch but I do wonder why you are really leaning this way about their cause. If they only filed lawsuits againt the Clinton democratic criminals and never anyone else you liked or voted for would you still say they exaggerate?
If there is more reasoning than they have gone against 'your' politics at times, please inform.

If you look back, I believe you'll see I had the same opinion DURING the Clinton administration. I haven't changed the way I think about them at all. I still say that, given the number of lawsuits he files, he should have had SOME success by now, and he hasn't.
And I believe ironman is right; there weren't a LOT of people gassed or beaten. I am almost positive it was TWO, if that many. I'm not even sure about the gas.
I can't get over the fact that if we don't agree exactly with everything you all think, you question our politics and/or patriotism.

BTW, does it bother you in the least that this statement:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse
use to say CONSERVATIVE until the change in administration?

Is there a legal brief to this? Why must they defend a murderous bulldyke no longer in power?
