I need to remind you that much of the money comes back to the U.S. in the form of purchases. A minor but important fact to mention.
The most important fact is that they would not be the military power that they are, without the money. However it is a huge drain on our resources.

That money that comes back to the US is a very important part of that aid. I would venture to state that most of that money never leaves the US. It buys merchandise here for use in Israel. Therefore it actually serves to spur our own economy here, not that that's the best way to accomplish that. But it's not quite as bleak a picture as one might think.
