The groups were expected to converge at the U.S. Capitol about 3 p.m. EDT Saturday, and authorities expected heavy traffic and delays on city streets.
Among the largest groups staging protests was International ANSWER -- short for Act Now to Stop War and End Racism -- whose members chanted and waved signs saying, "Free Palestine," "No War in Iraq" and "Don't Fund Israeli Killing."
