[history]
On Wednesday, the Jerusalem-born actress objected tartly in the Harvard Crimson to law student Faisal Chaudhry's April 11 essay on U.S. policy concerning Israel and the Palestinians.
Portman continued: "Outrageous and untrue finger-pointing is a childish tactic that disregards the responsibility of all parties involved."

Oh my....Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!
Now I'm really psyched for 'Clones', and perhaps another view of my Menace DVD this weekend. Yes, definitely, another viewing of Menace with special attention on the "making of" parts. Have a great weekend, I know I will....now. P

Thw Crimson online hasn't been working for me today. I wonder if the WP article has anything to do with it.

She actually looks like Ashley Judd. They look like twins. As for the article she wrote-it's great she stood up against that liberal nit-wit on the idiocy of her statements, but I didn't find much to it than defending Israel's racial make-up? Where was the full-fledged support for Israel defending itself, other issues, etc.?

I think in the NE Christian example it's class or shame. I think with Jews in general it's a fear of a strong pluralistic power and guilt.

She's just young and idealistic. There is enough of a spark of clear thinking (and gumption) in her response that I have hope for her as she matures.

Not that I don't believe, it just seems so counter to the reality that is Israel. Someone answer a dumb question for me. What IS the gun law in Israel. I would think that just about every man, woman and child would carry. Damn sure wouldn't want to live there WITHOUT one. More of the unthinking hypocracy of the American Jewish community: I'm the "black sheep" of my family, because, being Jewish, I'm supposed to hate guns and vote demonRAT. When told by a cousin that I was forbidden to own a gun, I calmy informed her that I didn't own a gun, I owned 14 guns! I also volunteered that I'd give up my guns about the same time that Israel outlawed gun ownership...
As far as the firearms laws go in Israel, just about every adult is either in the military or reserves, so it's not unusual to see lots of people carrying uzis, M-16s, or Galils on the streets, both in and out of uniform. On the other hand, I believe that permits for CCW (handguns) were fairly rare (not that much need for it, what with everyone carrying around machineguns, huh? LOL!), until recently with all of the bombing attacks.

Thanks for the info. Sorry about your family. It's sometimes hard to be an analytical, independent thinker. Perhaps they will come around some day.

Doesn't this Natalie Portman have a reserve commitment to the IDF which she has not yet fulfilled?
I seem to recall some press that she planned to skip out on it by remaining in the US.
Pretty damened shameful, if true.

She's a brilliant young actress. Bless her for this!

IMHO, I think her smile is cuter than Ashley Judd..(and that's from a person with roots in Kentucky!)
