US officials ask why not get rid of Arafat

Bush administration officials who met recently with former prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked why Israel is not getting rid of Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, Netanyahu told Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in a meeting yesterday, according to a source close to him.

While in the US, Netanyahu met with National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
Netanyahu updated Sharon on his recent mission to bolster support for Israel in the US. Last night, Netanyahu headed back to the US for more meetings, and will be appearing before AIPAC.
He also told Sharon it was more difficult to explain to the US why Israel is not acting to remove Arafat than to justify the current military operation, the source said.
He also told Sharon he should reconsider the idea of a summit as long as Arafat may still be involved and wait instead for an alternative leadership. Netanyahu also warned of pressure from a united Arab stand for Israel to withdraw to the 1967 borders.

Hmmmmm? Could Arafat's mystique be coming to an end ... And His Martyrdom just around the corner?

One can only hope it is so..

When Arafat was babbling on about "Is that acceptable? Is that acceptable?" I had to yell back at the TV that it was not accpetable. It is not acceptable that you are still the leader of the Palestinians. He needs to leave the stage.

If Bush was responsible for the destruction of Arafart and the PA it would go a long way towards restoring my faith in him.

As long as Arafat remains in charge, there will be no peace. That should be clear to every one and as long as certain parties cling to the myth of his indispensability, expect continued bloodshed. I have it said for a few weeks now and it bears repeating here again:

ITS TIME FOR HIM TO GO!!!
